    From the Beach Boys on back to Bach
      for inspiration, it’s best to leave rock

    Unless of course, a rocking chair is meant
      in which case I dare not dissent

SNIPPETS

Snippets play inside my mind.
Pieces of movies which I find
Are ingrained; cinema projected...
Dorment and then resurrected.
Sometimes, just a simple thought
Or action has the snippet caught.
Often, in a single day
They play - and sometimes on replay.
Moments big and moments small...
A century of films in all.
Silver, colour, sex and violence...
Even scenes made in their silence.

Influenced by "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight" and "The Rape of the Lock," my goal is to write this completely in iambic meter with (mostly?) rhyming couplets. (Though the intro's meter varies, the main parts will all be fourteeners). Entirety is a W.i.P.

Just a snippet
Made out in the land of crickets

You either did or didn't
Put forth the effort, time and commitment
Above and below the ridges
Hits and misses
Pushing it to the limits
Got to take care of business
From the start past the finish
Again and again with a quickness
And swiftness
Focused on nearby surroundings and in the distance

People looking at you

Each bead says a story
Of two parted souls
Ages old souls
And when you chant each bead
You find the bliss indeed
And the moment you know you are 
One wave left on the shore
And the moment you know you are 
One with me, them and the cosmos
You are no more a part of the story

Cold water lapping
Quiet barking and a quick 
Splash out near the bay

Songbird in brisk rain
Perched under a broken branch
Nest in tree hollow

Floating atop it
Our paddles swept through the lake
A budding blossom

Blushing and a chill
Moon wane and dragonfly hiss
Step on Winter cress

Red fox hunts in reeds
Swimming after a small mouse
Sky is clear and bright

My Venerable Dad - Memory Snippet On Fathers Day

Lucky day!   Father McShane was on the altar.
I knelt in gratitude, in silent applause.

He said mass faster than the lead car in a drag race.  
Hosts flew and before we knew it: “Ite, missa est.” *

The nine a.m. ritual was well worth it on Sundays with daddy.
