Sniffle Poems

A Poet Dies and is Bored with Heaven

I lounge about, walk about, crocking
a hymn of praise or two.

Heaven, is heavenly,
or is it a fake and fanciful heaven
created
for fanciful and fake poets?

I sit by a sweetly flowing stream'
a host of gay vividly colorful flowers
speak to me
in the high-falutin language
of antique songs.

It is wonderfully wonderful,
yet I am bored,
bored with the supranormal
and the ethereal nature of nature,
bored with the endless beauty
of all that I encounter.

The loveliest woman I have ever seen
visits my moody meditations,
she tells me to write and to stop ing,
but I just cannot,

for I cannot pen the transcendental
or sublime, without mentioning the ugly,
and the dark history of suffering
and there is no dark suffering here,
not even a sniffle or a tear.

I am bored, not unhappy only bored,
and I want to go back
to my shatty life and write
about my misery and yours.

I figure heaven is not a location
but a state of mind,
and that my heaven in reality
is a place

where demons and angel's battle
for the right to fight on -

forever.

PURPLE

 PURPLE

Purple my soft moss seat in paradise
amethyst crown purple so wise
High Priestess purpled silken silent and bold
has no need to compete with cool
Countess whose court is neat
but oh so cold !

What a sweet treat to see
ripe ripple granadilla purpled fall from tree
she made an indigo way from leafy branch
to loamy Earth to juicy kiss my feet
landing on delicate fairy roots with a scarlet beat

Purple irises erect rows in park holler
such powerful maidens compete not for dollars chased by bookie rookie scholars who fail
to see abundance in nature’s holy colour
divinely composed with innocent hues of valour

How humans sniffle and snuffle when they
seek lilac happiness in ludicrous money
all they need do is close their eyes to
visualise dining on purple aubergine,
mauve butter bean laced with dripping honey
in violet chameleon coves hosting bunnies
watching a shimmering sunset
holy purple burble !

Premium MemberThree is the Loneliest Number

Once, a lonely number three
sat forlornly on my knee.
In his eyes, I saw despair
as he was sitting there.
"You needn't sniffle, cry or pout.
I too have been the odd man out."

In Your Arms

I cry.
I sob.
I whimper.
But in your arms,
I cry less.
I sob less.
My whimpers die down.
I sniffle, looking up at you.
That sweet smile, that fills me with love.
You tell me, “It’s ok, I’m here”.
Then I cry again,
because I know
that I cannot be in your arms
any longer.

Premium MemberMoans and Groans

We've become moaners,
Grumpy and groaners,
We talk lots of piffle
We cough, and we sniffle.
We mumble and grumble,
We are not very humble
Sighing and crying
There's no denying
We've become apathetic
That is pathetic

As Winter sheds it armor,
young Spring proves quite a charmer.
Though I may sniffle and sneeze,
March hues and fragrances surely please.

Fear of Covid

I cough,
I sneeze
Wait????
Do I have a fever?
Body chills?
Is this for real?
I can't believe it
The doctor walks in,
My heart is racing
Tylenol, motrin, and a hospital bed
Is all I'm chasing
Someone rush me there!
Symptoms all over again!!!!
Covid? A second time
I can't do this again!!!!
Scared, scared, and even more scared
Quarantine?
What does this mean?
My life,
Is it over?
Am I done?
Can't be,
I'm not the one!
All alone,
For hours and days
Can't stand & cook
Doordash is all I pay
Pray, pray and pray some more
I am too strong,
I can handle this,
I'm just over thinking
My head snaps,
When every mask comes off
Every sniffle,
Every runny nose
My anxiety takes over
My heart races
My legs feel weak
I hear my name!
Louder & louder!!
My eyes open, WIDE!!!
MY THOUGHTS IN MY HEAD,
ANXIETY DOES NOT HELP
I WANT TO PUT COVID TO BED!!!!

Premium MemberThree Pea Pods - Nursery Rhyme

Three pea pods on the vine
Odd wee bee walks entwine
Twitch, squish it is bewitched
Which three peas snap a wish

Fly lights on the pod
Sniffle the pea bloom awed
Fly sees three, jumps so pleased
Flip, flip, flip twitches its wings

Bird spied the bee and fly
Swoop down, down, down awry
Three pea pods on the vine
Bee and fly flee to eglantine

Premium MemberLittle Fuzzy Red Slippers

Tinseled moments adorning a little blue spruce of sheen
he's a benefactor suited red, no he can never be mean

Snowflakes caked upon a lit up window in a twinkling room
the scent of sweet vanilla and Christmas sweet perfume

Little fuzzy red slippers pattering around before midnight
a crunch of cookie, a sip of milk on the table by the light,

Reindeers on rooftops elves in green tights chimney smoke
He gets away with a tug of his beard, he is such a happy bloke

Eggnog and truffles a sniffle or two opening presents until two
its a baby Jesus day, Merry Christmas & Happy New Years too.

Silence Broken

Silence broken by teardrops on cold concrete echoing off apartment building walls. A sniffle, a sob, a love child sits waiting for the hatred to die down, so he can go to sleep – forever.

Silence broken by screams unheard, unspoken, trapped inside a bound mouth, so small, so innocent, nowhere to turn, no where to run, waiting for the hatred to die down so she can sleep – forever.

Silence broken by phones, by protests, by anger, finally someone sees, someone talks, someone’s saved today, waiting for the hatred to die down so the abuser can sleep – forever.

Premium MemberA Warm Week In November

October had three days of ice
with howling winds of cold
Winterize your home tight
for winter is coming bold
Get ready for soups and stews
and every type of piping hot brews
To warm the soul and ward off ills
blankets and long johns to fight the chills
Stock the pantry and fill the freezer
the furnace glow such a pleaser
Be ready to get snowed in
we are ready for winter to begin
November arrives with skies of blue
temperatures warm enough to melt igloos
A warm week in November became two
hardly a sniffle and not a sign of flu
The month went into week three
temps of sixty and over eighty
Glorious days with cool nights
my low energy bills a beautiful sight
But December is coming with a northern wind
time to winterize all over again
Goodbye to November roses and mowing the lawn
time for those things for a season to be gone
