Do I miss you, or do I miss the smoke -
Of your promise on my lips?
Both are warming on a chilly night,
But here I struggle to breathe, I choke.

Missing Girl?
They have a child, a little girl
A special gift a diamond a pearl
The left her alone so they could play
They find her dead the next day.
Fake the scene, make it safe
Make it clean. Call the law
When there’s no incrimination
Spend a few hours down the
Station, blame the phantom
Who doesn’t exist. Form a charity
A fantasy of family bliss.
Involve the world to change
The narrative, they know she
Is dead, crocodile tears, inventive
Ask them a question and
And they scatter the blame
They are believed, bare no shame
What really occurred?
Well work it out.
Not a kidnapping
Just mystery and doubt.

Smokescreen

A thin wisp
Like fingers entwining
Opening like a budding flower
Skywards

Taking a path, a grey meander
Spooling and curling
Relying on a gentle breeze
For safe passage

The momentary heat on wood
Sublimating to perfumed wonder
Entering my body to
Ensnare the soul

The scent which evokes
For each a different memory,
A feeling; but to all…
Solace, fortitude, release

Science…
 bastard child
of philosophy
and reason
formulaic delinquent
of an answer
in flux
Serving itself
as it shuns
its true
master
bowing down
to its
tenets
the truth
—undiscussed

Smokescreen

Have you heard who’s coming to town?
Why, she’s only the very best actress in around!
She can make you angry, make you cry
She can make you laugh so hard you’ll wonder if you’re high
Always graceful and always sweet
The kind of girl anyone would want to meet
But when the curtain closes at the end of the day
When she removes her mask, and puts it away
She’s just another faceless girl
Empty and alone in an overrated world
But the show must go on, now where’s our star?
She’s bound and gagged in the trunk of her car!
Someone go get her, she’s terribly late
We mustn’t make these darling fans wait
Unbind her hands, but don’t cut the rope
It’s on to the stage and on with the show
Step into the dress and slip on the gloves
There’s the perfect girl we all know and love!
She takes center stage, Mom must be proud
An encore performance dazzles the crowd
And that’s when the curtain falls
She hangs her mask up on the wall
She opens her trunk, so cozy and safe
Slips into her bindings and takes her place
She sighs as she watches the trunk lid close
Hoping that would be her final show.

Smokescreen

Can they see me through my camouflage
Do you see how hard I try
Its just became so routine now
To answer questions with a lie

I dont know why Im like this
Its a heavy load to bare
I can never just say im hurting
Deep down I know they care

So who exactly am I fooling
When each time i brush it off
There really is no good parts
Certainly no payoff

Im grand im good im ok
The stupid things I say
That little hesitation
When they ask how Im doing today

Things are getting slowly better
Well at least thats what I think
Ive found a little release now
That takes me from the brink

There is one thing that makes me laugh
How good my advice can be
Pity it works for everyone else
I cant hear it when its me

Its important to keep going
To wherever lIfe may lead
Try to give yourself a break sometimes
And find out what you need

So thats the path I choose to take
I think I finally see the way
positive taught.s and affirmations
Surely help you through the day

Behind the Smokescreen

Behind the Smokescreen

Smoke screens on all sides;
Makes for hidden truths and purposed lies.
Imperfect vision clouded by events;
Distraction of human common sense.

Storm clouds, fog, and rain;
Confuses the masses in disdain.
Step outside the modern realm;
To stay is to become over whelmed.

Where truths are hidden and answers denied;
Go to where introspection applies.
Solitude away from all the voices;
You have many options and many choices.

Do not look for answers in the mire;
Or preach your sermons to the choir.
Silence your thoughts and let answers present;
Let spirit give you the final assent.

Take media with a grain of salt;
Staged events be not your default.
The answers you seek are not there;
They are within your own heart's prayer.

Student of life, Great Spirit the guide;
Lessons to be learned and then applied.
So let the circles spin out of sync;
As it should when awakening is at brink.

Be calm in the midst of the storm;
A new day is waiting to be born.
And while the world looks through the smokescreen;
Keep finding truths in the unseen.

Hiding Behind a Smokescreen

Some people hide behind smokescreens
so that they can deceive others,
with elaborate schemes,
hoping to fulfill their dreams on the
sweat of the innocent,
refusing to repent,
refusing to be remorseful,
concocting lies while precious time flies,
until nothing has been accomplished.
