Death is like falling asleep and waking up in God's beautiful garden. ~anonymous
I long for the quiet
place toward which I go
with simpleness of mind,
and yearning in my heart
to rest among the kind.
I long for the quiet
evening of life's last breath,
to consider younger
days and whether I chased
dreams with bliss-filled wonder.
I long for the quiet
time of satisfaction,
knowing I've met the goal
of living in the world
without losing my soul.
I long for the quiet
garden that waits beyond
the boundary of life,
to walk eternal paths,
free from struggle and strife.

I count blessings as I gaze up on stars
Watch the dawn arrive in a pink aqua tint
Hear a rooster crow me his morning memoirs
Each day offers a different fingerprint
Swirls of overlapping richness
Joys to discover, fresh as peppermint
Lessons to learn in all their vividness
My connections on earth a treasured lifeline
Abundance given in complete simpleness
With all these gifts that are mine
I see the earth and heaven intertwine

Leaving on a freight train, don't know where I'm going
Hope I'm alive when I arrive with no bills owing
Halleluya debt free
Simpleness is the key
Spend little, enjoy much and be easygoing

You preferred the milestones of life
House, kids, somebodies wife
I preferred the simpleness of our mile markers
pitter-patter of running feet
1 mile
then the beep
sweaty brow
Bright clear eyes
tip toes
as you come in to celebrate
with a kiss
running with you is pure bliss
i preferred to celebrate
each mile with you
my love for you
was simple and pure
I wish the immensity of it you knew.

I'm sipping a cup of warm tea while I read, and
it occurs to me how simple and good some
things can be without a convolution of extra
ingredients supposedly to make it “better,”
which kind of says something about life, too,
but then it's time for dinner and afterward
I'm eating a small piece of cake for dessert
and I'm slowly submerging myself in the
sweetness of its frosting and I remember
a time long ago in Las Vegas when you were
only four months old and I gave you some of
my soda, your first taste of sugar,
and how your face lit up,
and the simpleness of your smile,
and how that smile never left you,
and I'm thinking, Yep, that was a good day.

You liked my hair long,so I cut it short.
You liked my smile, So I stopped smiling so big.
You liked my simpleness. So I became as complex as possible.
You liked my hair dark, So i dyed it bright blonde.
I'm not gonna have a trace of you Of anything you wanted me to be or what you liked about me.
In seven Years I won't even have the same skin you touched.
My body will forget your gentle touch.
My ears will forget your voice.
And Soon Enough I won't even remember your name.
And Honestly, I can't wait.

I’m left perplexed. How vexing, how complex…
the plight of a simple man, (one’s ruin is another’s choosing) is moving and doing the least that he can, no oil changes no wedding band.
All this just to exist, just to be standing, still living, surviving this life with a pocket knife and all the time that most never venture to find before the last goodbye.
Like the return of high tide you can count on his nothing, nothing to show nothing to hide... a cowboy trailblazing the countryside.
Beethoven's eleventh symphony ?keeps the beat of this visceral epiphany.?
No piano key in record history? could serenade away the blue music that drips from the riffs in me.
How is it to be, so utterly free. No paper trail to keep folded neatly, a homeless nomadic home body taking what the rest of us are wasting, catching sickness digging ditches while we dine on delicious richness.
My intuition becomes twisted and misses the simpleness where my wisdom depicted the abyss, this before my vision was transformed by barely bearing witness to his existence.

There’s a house in a field somewhere
A sea of a sky out there
Begging to be born again
With my hands to till,
Your heart, and a windmill
A weathervane that tries
Without the presence of your eyes
Is a tree fell without a sound
There’s a tin roof for me to mend
A simple truth ne’er to bend
I would tend to your need
Gift my patience, and give heed
Hands to work, to be calloused
To grow these gardens green
To build your everything
As the seasons roll through
And the heavens fade from blue
We’ll lift a catch, and fill our barrel
There is nothing we cannot abide
No beasts from which to hide
A hummingbird, our neighbor
Enjoys the fruits of our labor
A stream running rampant down a hill
A hammock rests in the shade
Sway there, let your eyes fade
A cedar porch, it’s brand new
Built with devotion, it’s just for you
I will never grow weary from this
As addicted to the breeze
As the troubles you ease
You belong here on my arm
We’ll resurrect this rusted farm
Simpleness and solitude abound
Breaking free of our past
Together, in love, at last

on a crisp white page
I pen the words
flowing like lyrics
to my favorite song
and you inspire me
to be all I can be
and the simpleness of this
fills my heart

Today is a day of wonderment
as I sit and wonder and even ponder
of the many ways in which my love has grown fonder
on a day like today the blues are chased away
as cherubs come out to frolic and play
and as my love grows I keep her close at bay
for a mile away is to far away
even and foot or even an inch
for this gift she shall receive
I am sure is a clinch
of that I am sure the simpleness is so pure
an awe will be heard from coast to coast
as we seal yet another valentine's with
a clink of the wine glasses in toast.

A warm breeze to soothe away my pain
A gentle nudge a kind reminder
that with every momentary loss is gain
that all things go through the grinder
to stress less is a small blessing
swinging in the strong arms of a breeze
this notions makes all of life at ease
watching the dandelions dance in it
to be lulled to sleep with it
to receive a small reward because of it
the sassiness of the wind to taunt us so
to create chaos with one blow
so i adore its simplicity
the simpleness that is
an Autumn Breeze

In 1860 life was good,
'Till its simpleness ceased one day.
The North wished to save the Union
While the South chose to break away.
America was torn apart
As six hundred thousand died.
Throughout four years of total war,
Women without husbands cried.
The sad fact of the Civil War
Is what was left at its end.
Too many times, men's evil acts
Destroyed both foe and friend.
The problem was, once it began,
There was no peace or compromise.
Total victory must be proclaimed
Before rage would leave men’s eyes.
Destroy all that helps the enemy,
Was the cry of either side.
Anything to obtain victory,
As death on horseback did ride.
Black men dressed in old uniforms
Became the Union's reserve.
They fought and died for their freedom
And their rights they earned and deserve.
Lifestyles would forever change
For all who survived the war.
It had ended as it began,
With sadness, misery and more.
Both sides prayed to the same God,
And spoke words from the Bible.
The prayers of both were not answered,
For all involved were liable.
