Notes About The Poem

Where are we going

Death is like falling asleep and waking up in God's beautiful garden. ~anonymous

I long for the quiet
place toward which I go
with simpleness of mind,
and yearning in my heart
to rest among the kind.

I long for the quiet
evening of life's last breath,
to consider younger
days and whether I chased
dreams with bliss-filled wonder.

I long for the quiet
time of satisfaction,
knowing I've met the goal
of living in the world
without losing my soul.

I long for the quiet
garden that waits beyond
the boundary of life,
to walk eternal paths,
free from struggle and strife.

Heaven sounds wonderful. Still, I'd like a few dogs up there. I enjoyed the hopefulness of the poem.
