Premium Memberpoint of view

it is all about perspective I believe
not that my faith is big enough yet
but a short while ago which
seems like an eternity right now
my problems seemed as large
as I could have ever imagined in
self-inflicted short-sightedness

today they appear to me like
a fully grown elephant squeezed
into a miniature bird cage
the feeder quite empty apart
from nutrition for the truncated beast
key thrown away with no way to escape
pull out tray full of detritus
bar spacing tightly wound together
replacement thumb screws digging deep
into my skin parchment heart and soul

they say when it rains it pours
I was not prepared for the deluge however
apocalyptic floods and overflowing torrents
locked in a weir bursting all it contains

one more dry tear
and my drowning is complete
maybe someone can rescue
the cage and the trapped animal

Premium MemberForgive Me

With folded hands, I ask for forgiveness,
For the things I did wrong, or you did not like,
There is nothing wrong with this realization,
It makes me strong and decisive in life.

In the daily chores, the daily grind starts with dawn,
On the way to work, infuriate many people as I try to get ahead,
Forgive me for the short-sightedness,
As everyone meets their target at their own pace.

Forgive me for not keeping in touch,
Calls not made, ignored, texts never glanced,
For losing touch in the maze of chores,
And closing half-opened emotional doors.

Forgive me for the little fights,
When little disagreements turn into major arguments,
For moments when I fail to see,
The beauty in your constancy.

hot days

when it gets dark
it remains humid and warm
the stars are obscured
by a heavy haze
the trees are so still
as if two-dimensional
a thick silence
broken only by boy racers
revving up Willett Way
night’s muggy cloak
stills the birdsong
open windows bring
no refreshing breeze
my clammy body sags
my brain slows to a standstill
my eyes can hardly keep open
my bones feel my age
my spirit feels even older
I yearn for days
cold and wet, while
realising that our selfishness
short-sightedness and greed
mean that future summers
will be much worse
while I’ll be even
less able to cope.

STREAMS OF CONSCIOUSNESS
The imaginary musings of my mind,
experience past & present lingers long,
dusted off,re-opened,viewed from time to time,
retrospective perspective changes all;
Maturity's long-sightedness squints aghast,
then savours the mellowness of memory;
A tear,a smile washes nostalgia's face;
Today will be yesterday,gathering dust,
then filed,microfiched,all too soon forgotten
'til an event unlocks the museum again.

Mistaken Memories

It is like the world is colluding.

To erase the memories that once wandered free.

I sometimes plan to go back.

And feel the scars forming all over again- as if being attacked.

Because the scarring memories are worse than the emotional pain.

Trying to prevent future guilt was all in vain.

If only I could stop the internal arguments.

That haunts me and taunts me like an eternal sunset.

But there is hope as I gather the shards.

Of patience that shattered when I was dealt random cards.

And I can find a new way to be free.

From the short-sightedness that blocked my path like a shadowy tree.

With mistakes that follow just behind and a wait that circles ahead.

I shall plow through this crisis before my worry can turn to dread.

Premium MemberMother Ocean

birth mother of our planet
in harmony with your solar partner
your cycles providing the very essence of life
today we salute you and your virtues

you’ve sustained unspeakable wrongdoings
through man’s history been overlooked and abused
ignorance and short sightedness a poor excuse
your mighty power could exact revenge but no

seeming to turn a blind eye to obscene shenanigans
your moon lover knows how to soothe your sorrow
you’ve been blessed with the wisdom of eternity
through the ages you’ve seen species come and go

we know you’re hurting in the dead of night
biding time with karma around the corner
yes indeed… forgiving mankind for once again
they know not what they do ~

The Glory-Seeker

Behind who too wonderfully
Makes it sound just to live
Whilst be-dazzlingly led on
By illusions, illusive

Fail not I to hear, chuckling;
Nor with Death falter less
Laughing with! Wakes, shakes up
Mundane short-sightedness.

What Will Meet Me First

I am staring through the windows
gasping the air, choking my throat
The Air seems like never before .
But Nothing seems to shaken
what my Eyes behold,
Fore sightedness of What will Meet me first?

I look by the remains of how much
Until I can afford Stillness,
Togetherness of silence is in
the faith I am exaggerating to my children .

My Deepened breaths carry inability ,
a way through has to come as a Miracle
Something that can eradicate months of infection
 before starvation evades our kingdom.

Threat to survival doesn’t lessen
as we begin to isolate,
It thrives in our Mind,days
before it takes over our stomach.

Counting moments before the catastrophe engulfs us down
or cries will start even before it reaches our town,
The empty street will soon be loosing its silence
What will Meet Me first ? I am still deciding .

An Exercise In Futility

A howler when I purse my lips
Cutting off my nose to spite my face
When on purpose I beat my chest in cribs
Where restraint, respect and reflection erase the trace and brace

Immersed in consistency, competency and congruency
Within realms usually teeming with compromise
For the sake of efficacy
Riding on the back of surprise at sunrise

In a panorama that suggests ability
To consider in depth views of interlocutors
Unless fragility and futility
Boosted by persecutors and prosecutors

Whose short-sightedness comes to the fore
Upon close scrutiny
Of the core
That accelerated the mutiny

In which self-harm metamorphosed into an illusion
Pushed to the limit and beyond conjecture value
Raising the profile in the full glare of the delusion
Whose true blue glue without a clue

Led me to assert the naïve notion
That a wrong could engender a right
By virtue of mere assertion
In benighted circumstances whose blight

Came undone
When far from earning me fame
Succeeded in repelling prospects of the pardon
For which I long as to my name I attached a plethora of blighted blame.

Spring Beckoning

As the time of spring beckons

We all have this moment of clear-sightedness
when we see we are of little importance other to the world
and clear-eyed grasp our smallness.
We can in our tiny ways push the world forward an inch
perhaps to a fairer society where children do not die under
the rubble of concrete.
We can do nothing to stop these people who will push
us into an Armageddon, and will they somehow think
they can avoid the calamity when there is no one to blame.
There was a time when one could travel unmolested
in the Arabic world, then the smell of petroleum and
the white man came and destroyed the peace for greed.
No, not us the lesser people, we are victims too of their
hunger to dominate and enslave us in mortgages and loans
that can never be paid; so we watch and wait and when
the day of disaster comes shall I help the ruffians to my lifeboat.

Darkness

Darkness
A time has come
We have reached a period
The time and period
Where lightness has became darkness
We find it difficult to get light in Education
The sky has kept crying for light
Yet the sun still shine
This darkness doesn't show that
They are sighted less
But, their sightedness bring darkness
The darkness lead to corruption
Darkness drop from sky
Then it turn the two faces to darkness
And turn head and bottom into darkness.....

A Politician's Creed

© 2012 (Jim Sularz)

We are conceived by short sightedness,
nurtured with unbridled power.

We believe in self-interest,
and the dollar almighty.

As masters of deception and treachery,
we father hatred and misery.

We revel in our own injustice,
wallow in our lies and debauchery.

We believe the ends justify the means,
and we will prevail at any cost.

War is our flagged banner,
diplomacy is retreat.

We are judges and lock key,
and will suppress all opposition.

We shall never relinquish our fraternity,
to the higher purpose of the people.

And through their manifest ignorance,
will our aims take flight and conspire!

God's Will

GOD’S WILL

So many people claim to know
What god wants
He hides above and has no face
Yet his minions who are self- appointed
Proclaim his way is the only way
To live a life

The earth revolves around god as king
You must lose your individuality
If you wish not to die in sin
No one must live for now and be happy

We must constantly seek a future
That exists when death has devoured us
This without any proof that another life exists

The ability to control every aspect of one’s life
Is the calling of gurus past and present
The machismo and narrow sightedness
Of these so called enlightened messengers
Has wrecked a world which should
Celebrate its plurality of understanding of god
And its innate humanity

God’s will is opaque for no man has
The ability to comprehend nature fully
so cannot create a god that can be made to fit
A human concept of authority

A god only can rule supreme
If the people wish to be led
Worship who you wish
Praise the one who
Loves you best
