Mistaken Memories

It is like the world is colluding. To erase the memories that once wandered free. I sometimes plan to go back. And feel the scars forming all over again- as if being attacked. Because the scarring memories are worse than the emotional pain. Trying to prevent future guilt was all in vain. If only I could stop the internal arguments. That haunts me and taunts me like an eternal sunset. But there is hope as I gather the shards. Of patience that shattered when I was dealt random cards. And I can find a new way to be free. From the short-sightedness that blocked my path like a shadowy tree. With mistakes that follow just behind and a wait that circles ahead. I shall plow through this crisis before my worry can turn to dread.
