Makita Iii: Breast of Fear
As the bark of fear ascends
callow pages crease
illustrating a youthful doxy
abreast a sheet of smoke
waltzing betwixt velveteen lips
as if tomorrow’s mistakes
mattered yesterday...

Flowering of Spring
with accents of spring
     come floral drapery -- tossed

      where hyacinths dance
      in velveteen pirouette
stems drip __ filling garden's view

In-flight
In pheromone
Honeysuckle perfume
Insect antennae knot freshly
bouquet.

In breeze
I feel your breath
rustle shiny reeds
of my stints' hapless hinterland
you learn.

A vest
of velveteen
gleaming wings that trembled
Turn to a whirring glint beneath
full moon....

Scream a blaze in passing fashion
tear the velveteen tapestry
of Luna’s anthracite passion
rake nails of rainbow majesty
on the depth of night’s travesty
reveal, revel, shine in the dark
leave lingering trace of lunacy
for night, oh night, has not the lark.

The pond's algae swirls artistically around the lily pads, captive oracle of the canoe's wake, velveteen green of a finer weft than the gown of a Queen's, richer in hue than the paint from Monet's pallet. The innate beauty of nature, most diminutive, thriving on earth, in water and under the fire of a setting sun.

Velvet Carpet
She lays on fine velveteen sheath
a body wrapped in the delicate
texture of malleable night –

With fondled taps, he pulls
her toward him spilling desire
all over womanly contours -
building up motions -- then to both sigh
upon love’s parquet floor.

Moon
Trying to find my
solace in the moon of the
Fall for I lack the

lunar halo and
the velveteen, onyx shade
of yours. I wish to

be the one who at
once will make you whole, but you
are still concealing;

still hiding thyself
away behind a moonbeam
smile like a helpless

umbra does in the
sheltering embrace of the
dazzling paraselene....

Organdy Dancer
My organdy dancer
Aquarian child
   Is always in fashion
   Lights sweet flames of passion
When she dances for me

My crinoline princess
Has sensuous moves
   That nothing conceals
  And yet only reveals
What she wants me to see

My velveteen beauty
Seductress of dreams
   Dances through my delusions
   To the perfect illussions
That I want her to be...

The engorged sky billows,
a monochromatic delight
of soft tones ...
a lullaby
of tissue paper edges
fragile as a primrose.

The bashful sun blushes
sending pastel light through notes
of grey to white
soft, velveteen.
harmonies overlap
shadow less, spiritual.

Ah, the sweet octaves
of visual light defrayed by motes
of earthly ash
upon the sky
bring such joy to mankind
fragile as a primrose....

Shadows Dance (Freeverse)
Silhouettes behind curtains,
reach upward
into the illumination
of moonlight,
and dance the tango of dreams.

Velveteen wings
briefly touch sparkling gems of tomorrow
while filigree legs curtsy
and welcome a new day.

Empty eyes kissed by the Witching Hour
silently retire within unfolding dreams
for love, she was with me today
while we talked of things to be,
yet I was already in tomorrow....

Premium Member Who Can Fault That?
Casual lion lounges in his 70’s jacket
It is made of velvet, not velveteen
Softer than his mane if you can believe it
We wait for his words of wisdom
He is the king of beasts and of the forest

The waiting goes on for a long time
He has relinquished his rights to hyena
The animal who thinks everything is funny
Who can fault that? Asks the zebra.
More evidence that…
buffoons and clowns always run for office....

Premium Member In Fragrant Mists
In the hall of clocks and mirrors,
Winds of time bring fragrant whispers,
Of midnights of magic moonlight,
And reflections of past delights!

Of golden days when lost in blooms,
And dancing joy in summer rooms!
A blur of green in woodland scene,
And the purple twilights velveteen.

Time's reversed to infinity,
As ensues with sweet memory.
And heartsongs waft, out of mauve mists,
And all life's seasons coexist!...

Just
Tie black satin ribbons
around the sun
Dipped the moon
in velveteen space
Smudged the edge
of virgin clouds
sometimes drew a face
Pulling combs through
water creating rivers and seas
catching sunbeams
in the fractured waves
My sighs become the breeze
as it mingles with trees
Sunlight like treacle
sifts between finger and thumb
Living time in seconds
never felt the days
Sit with silence
until sound changes its ways...

Velvetine
give me some innocence
just a little silken touch
soft as the inside of your mouth
and slow as half frozen creeks
I want to feel every nerve ending
light up under my touch
I want to excite your senses
with the weight of this experience

this is a small bone from my neck
I want to belong to you
this is the lining of my heart
I want to be yours

and I wish
I wish I was still seventeen
and oh, how I wish
I wish we were all still velveteen...

Pure Magic
poetry is ;

pulling a velveteen rabbit
out of a moth-eaten top hat
to the oohs and awws
of a wide-eyed children’s crowd

words flowing faster
than tongues wagging
from pursed dry lips
begging for a bit of water

poetry is;

flowering in the middle
of some nameless desert’s
shimmering heat precisely
at high noon

the sparkle of moisture
an illusion pure
without any slight
of human hand

poetry is pure magic
word imagery
without compare...

Quiet Footsteps
A velveteen hue paints the long hall,
a subtle glance from the morning sun
awakening along with quiet footsteps

Drapes try to darken a lost night
where two winks were only a dream
and the day refused to remain at bay

Hush and fly away my beautiful songbird
for the tune you play cannot be heard
fly away my bird and let the restless be

Come back when a new day breaks
when pumpkin spice fills the horizon
and I'll let you climb again into my heart...

Premium Member In This Age of Madness, Thank You
When I read your verses, it fills me with gladness.
The magic of your quill to erase any soul
sadness.

No, not by jokes or silly laughter..
You are a glimpse of the beauty of life in the hereafter.

Don't see you in contests or winning trophies.
Your velveteen softness, is more than
the world to me.

You make me fly to poetry heaven.
Blessings to you,one-hundred times seven!

Midnight Sun
I am waiting for you to show up
like the azure ribbons of northern lights
in the end of the velveteen-blue horizon.
I can almost hear your steps
if I hold back my breath
and silence my heart.
Your steps having a caressing sound
of touching the dusty ground.
Your body is the living night -
upon your shoulders, you hold slumbering stars
for the moon is your radiating heart.
I am waiting for you to show up,
I am waiting for the rising
of my midnight sun....

Kuliglig
There she waits by her window,
gazing up at the velveteen summer sky,
searching for her favorite bituin,
whisper-pondering

Only the kuliglig replies—
The quintessential tune of summer.

Despite herself, she smiles,
happy with the fact that
the sound fills the night air,
drowning out her own thoughts.

Anything is better than silence.

Impervious
Hush falls, like soft down,
velveteen,
the canopy of night,
when kisses rouse the tender
nerves,
the tips of your breasts;
sweet buds pressed hard
against the sensing tongue.
until the rain falls
down
from stars and distant quadrants,
pooling violet shadows
dilated in your eyes.
A face upturned,
porcelain,
neck arched and parted lips,
breathing sweet gasps,
whispering of love
and love’s dominion,
as this time
suspends forever
frozen,
impervious to the rain....
