In rhythms of today
the silence of tomorrow
Where promise lies waiting
—for hope unfulfilled
(Dreamsleep: June, 2023)
touched by the flame we’re not the same
for though unfulfilled is our aim
we’re in a state of surrender
treating ascension as a game
Inspired by words of Swami Yukteswar Giri
The presence of form in any domain ~
Signals unfulfilled desire, as heart’s stain
old longings
drifting in
a far a - way place. . . .
they return-
unfulfilled-
on nostalgia’s wind

APRIL
a long time coming
she is rosy cheeked and chill
breath quite treacherous
fickle april of my dreams
fondest promise unfulfilled
Cloudy Day
Unfulfilled Dreams
Shuttered soul
Twilight encroaches
Fading Hope
Eclipsed heart
Dark Night
Steady rain
Flooded spirit
My unsated soul
Your truth yearns to know my Lord
Unfulfilled desire!

Empty, unfulfilled, selfish longings
live where love does not abide.
But where love is, there is peace,
and joy, and fulfillment deep inside.
Breaks there a dream as sad as that of "might-have-beens"
That wakes the morning bright and beautiful
And spends the day in sleep that never ends
Youth,
Like cement before it dries,
Like a promise before it’s kept,
Like words spoken,
—yet unfulfilled
(Villanova Pennsylvania: August, 2013)
another world for me
a soul that I be
a freedom for life
free by love for liberty
for living — Paris my reason
Paris my unfulfilled desire
Paris my prison
on a white sand beach
lie scattered fragments of shells--
my unfulfilled dreams

For Shadow Hamilton's "Traditional Haiku" contest
A warm clear broth
Steaming
In a simmering silence
Gently roiling
Over controlled heat
Bubbling
To the surface
A scent
Of satiation’s sadness
Unfulfilled
New Year: the reopening of hope's gates to let unfulfilled dreams enter reality's ground!

Happy New Year
student
open, willing
listening, observing, watching
satisfaction, successful, aimless, unfulfilled
distracting, annoying self-serving
close-minded, uneducated
bully
Spotted memory
Brightness of internal moon
Desires unfulfilled.

Day and night are lovers
Always after each other
Sun, Moon, Stars, Above
Witness to their lonely love
Earth, shelters both of them
And it goes on for ever.

time has come
to follow the way
life threw me
to settle down
in the aftermath
of fifty years passing
many goals, dreams
unfulfilled by hardships
a lowly soul, beneath them all
Desires unfulfilled
affection gone astray
needs ignored and
imagination plays
in bed alone
emotions groan
mind begins to roam
LOVE
soon leaves home
Lay
Surrounded by friends I never met
I suffocate
In the vortex of my own distress
Desires unfulfilled
Memories burned... and broken quill
The last page of the book, empty
As am I
Life without death contains nothing more than death without life, it remains unfulfilled straight from rejected beginnings of ending, a muted mockery of laughter for crying out loud.
Need,
your own
to deal with
or fellow man's,
unfulfilled or snubbed,
begs for kindness.
Share the gift;
love feeds
need.
Longing
Pining, Desiring
To be loved
Unconditionally, as one is,
Unfulfilled.
Yearning
Wishing, Nostalgic
To be belonged
By others and self,
disenchanted.

Great hopes, high aspirations
Pip’s journey, transformation
Fortune sought, society’s call
Mistaken identity, a great fall
Unfulfilled promises, love’s plea
Hope remains, eternally
everything ... human does is humane...
