All day, if as far, a world
Circles back round again
Oh! That bold vision to regain.
Pursued, undimmed, on shore.
Sympathetically blown along.
Companionably lonesome!
Of what, sea-raised, but wholesome
Haunts a heart evermore.

Yes, he had known horizons far
And set his course by some lone star--
Undimmed the longing in his eyes
For other lands and distant skies.
I'm glad we walked a little way
Nor would I change one thing today;
As it was, so it seemed planned
To bid goodbye, my sailor man.

Yes,he had known horizons far
And set music by some lone star--
Undimmed the longing in his eyes
For our windsong and distant skies.
I'm glad we walked a little way
Nor would I change one note today;
As it was, so it seemed planned
To bid goodbye, my sailor man.

Into a frail boyhood,
The moment seizes us
More than we grasp
Its shady edges.
Little by little,
We undress the bruised knees
And the warm wounds
To the grown-up day
That winks at the kites.
Take one handful of bitterness
And some silver frowns
Throw them into the face
Of the undimmed wheel
And the splashes of summer laughter.

Light Verse
There's a star in me
Crushed under my heart
Waiting to escape
To burst through my skin, my shirt
Weeping beams of light
There's a star in me
Who doesn't like whispers
Or subtle hues of blue and grey
But the loudness of shouts
And red amaryllis
There's a star in me
Who doesn't like generic avatars
For Facebook profiles
But wants to be known by its name
Its shine undimmed

Oh, dandelion
Your blossom of gold endures
Warmth to a cold day
The strength of sunlight
Is sometimes diminished by
Grey clouds that drape Earth...
With a soiled blanket
Of piercing melancholy
Yet you glow, undimmed
Would you make my wish
come true after I blow you...
to the passing breeze?

Mill boy, meets pit girl.
Wool and Iron.
Protection and strength.
Complementing.
Opposites attracting.
The magnetic core pull,
unbreakable.
The outer, nourishing, nurturing.
The perfect balance.
A symmetry.
Loved and loving.
Life shared, family, forever friends,
Vows, distant, but stronger.
Sons, raised, fledged and flying
Dreams realised.
New lives, new dreams.
Hope undimmed.
Love eternal.
Forever us.
