Roaming down the highway
Solely finding his way
Treading painful memories
Using them for another day
Is he really alone?
around
about us wend
spiraling fates,
treading sills as lame cats
or children unsure of fruit
wink at chance
You go treading the tender leaves of grass
Marks these red your cruel brush,
The flowers fall at this scene
No fruit around now is seen.
Jesus was walking on water
And stepped on a furry otter
God yelled, "Hey down there!
You should be aware
You're treading on Harry Potter!"
Treading softly on hallowed ground
My fading breath the only sound
Near certain death and heaven bound
Life is lost and paradise found
barefoot treading free
cool turquoise ripples lapping
hot golden beaches
AP: Honorable Mention 2020 (poem never posted in PS till 2026)
The world is all askew.
We have been treading daily on eggshells.
The stress level is tangible.

Dark silhouette,
echoing thought.
Calling my name,
my heart soon caught.
Familiar stranger,
treading my dream.
Always calling
from betwixt and between.
chain by chain
in generation's pattern
of lives past
we wait
&
wait in line
repeating
mistakes
treading
the same circle
imagining
progress is reality
I am but a man treading a brief dream.
I'm but a man rowing a sacred stream.
A student of life seeking knowledge yet;
Contented with the cotton therein his closet.
treading carefully
on a bright tulip carpet
rainbow on the ground

High born stars
hear this rhyme
Make gold Sun
turn cold rime
Ambergris
Sun rays steal
Sew it shut
Bright eye seel
Treading dusk
‘neath sky cold
At ease now
truth be told
I’m Sorry
By treading on the emotions of another, daily,
And later uttering the words “I’m Sorry”
We have made it no more than our get out of jail free card
Tom
One of a kind specimine.
That kitty cat of mine.
Runt from a litter of three
A prince of royal decree
Norwegian Forest cat
Treading softly across the mat
A regal mane
A gentle frame
Brown eyes
Haunt me.
Memories
of the lockeroom.
And hot showers.
A paragon
Which I can
Never have.
Treading
Lightly,
This boat rocks.
And I seem to be
Always seasick.
There was once a grand dame named Sara
maledicted with hyperactive sclera,
but the even heels of fine-treading rain,
laurel leaf tea & lavender from Spain
would cease her state of Chiroptera.
Tender toes,
Treading tentativly,
Taking time,
Trying tactfully.
Tendons tremble,
Tension tightens,
Tilting, Twisting,
Tripping, tumbling!
Terror. Trouble.
Touching totality.
Tomorrow. taken.
Injured Soul
Fainted Eyes
Returning
from where?
Weary feet
Weak arms
Treading
toward where?
Struggled
in vain battles
Fighting
delusive enemies
Erred by
a deception
The ancient deception
Walking through a field of blue flowers,
breathtakingly lovely, God’s gift.
Breathing deep, fragrant delight,
eye candy for the soul,
butterfly heaven.
Treading softly.
Earth’s bounty.
Thank you,
God.
Skyscraper:
The raindrops
Falling over my bed,
Upon the eaves of my bedroom roof,
Sound like an army of cat paws treading lightly
Lest they disturb some troublesome foe,
When all I can think of
Is the rain.
Treading Blood Again
Stained Unclean Skin
Dead Eyes
Hypnotized
Tragically Desired
Diligence Required
Rigor Mortis Of The Mind
Distorted And Unrefined
Tormented
Demented
Unnatural Condition
Deadly Affliction
Form:
my thoughts
like tires
on icy roads
spin
out of control
colliding
against
banks
of mind
my heart
somber
like this day
lingers
within
the puddles
of soul's tears
like rain
on this road
streaming
downhill
The silent streaming of vast space
Gave birth our little sun;
The timid treading of time's pace
Gave life its little run.
Of gathered stardust formed are we,
That took, a moment, wit;
A foam upon eternity,
A spark a moment lit.
Adrift, adrift (my usual trip)
In icy, unmapped sea,
A splintered spar my only ship—
I clutch it willfully.
Afloat, afloat, each nerve alive,
I brave what is to be,
Instead of cowering, to but survive
On land, secure, not free.
Summer Winds
Amidst strong winds, John was treading the road
Carrying on his back a heavy load,
It was a pitiful sight
To brave the wind in such plight:
When load fell down, it showed a bag of toads!
