nudges my heartstrings to roam
those timeworn keepsake places;
espying aged filaments of true hope,
numbered and nearly as delicate
as a man hungering
for the once familiar perfume
of old-fashioned hymns....

sentinelling rocks
     timeworn
          untimely memories
          insistently whisper

Cares, like forgotten whispers, nestle within the rugged embrace of crevices and crags. They seek refuge, veiled by shadows, their edges softened by time. Each fissure a secret keeper, each jutting rock a sentinel of memories.

some smudged by rain,
or perhaps the slow raindrops
that melt on reddened eyes.
Some pages are torn,
even still bleeding,
and yet all the lines and print
make one book,
one story,
one life.
A life, of course worth recording,
all worth keeping,
until
you can,
without sorrow of joy
throw it all away,
knowing you are free,
free
from your own
long
fantasy novel....

Tumbling,
over the timeworn stones
I'll fly in a kingdom of the winds

Far from here,
I am bathed by the moon,
washed at midnight by radiant light

I will soar,
in the clarion dawn, 
free-falling over the edge of earth

While cool mist,
washed in splintered sunlight,
lets me be a shadow of myself
