Dusk seeps lapis
The horizon looms in blood and coral
Crows emerge from peacock plumes
shrieking caws of darkness
wings flap their incessant onyx
Talon wounds of starlight
multiply and meld
into the coming day
the cover of night perforated
into salmon blooms and cornflowers

Tremble
Tremble
by Michael R. Burch

Her predatory eye,
the single feral iris,
scans.

Her raptor beak,
all jagged sharp-edged thrust,
juts.

Her hard talon,
clenched in pinched expectation,
waits.

Her clipped wings,
preened against reality,
tremble.

That Brittle Rasp
of paper unwrapping
that cloud wisp of wisping cloud
that turns to eagle talon
that acrobat plastic bag
flirting with the breeze
scampering ant trying to avoid the falling droplet
curled leaves that adorn
the face of tree forlorn
cursing clouds
as the splinter's emerge
written on back yard step...

Nightly {stream of Consciousness}
Drops of oil
Scar the soul
Scare the mind
Steal the life

Dead
Cold

Frigid and still
Creeping vines
Inching in the dark
Sealed rosebuds
Fall to the ground
Trembling in the wind

Vultures
Beak and Talon
Silhouette against the moon
Darkness under the wing

Tick
Tock

Midnight

Tick
Tock

Die...

Just Smile
mud creatures with knifed talon fingers
squirm and rip
Tearing from my heart
a formless creature with no end or beginning
heads become tails that wrap and entwine
tortured stems of petrified trees
that twist and devour
spread and stagnate
held in stasis
by a lying smile
and morphing mask
that never shows beneath...

Siarska Part Three
Stalk .... hunt .... sniff
With a talon Siarska's hand is no humans
Breaking into a nursery
Babies blood calls
Lingers of pureness
Fresh and virginal
Innocent of the wicked things that taint the air
Sleep soundly no peace
Devoured and grabbed
Digested with a pant
The nurses rush in ....
What have you done Siarska...

The death eaters flew
onyx agate eyes,
prince’s of darkness
pall bearers of morn,
they flew…..

Between rivers of tar
onto islands of emerald
in mated pairs
they flew….

Beak and talon gore
blind sided by entropy
pinioned pirates
black holes of caw cophony.

Serpent tongues splay
shredding the cosmos
they flew………...

Haze
I dove into a cauldron
Headfirst into a brew
I needed a phoenix talon
To wash my heart anew.

The witch & I are friends
He gave me his talisman
We wrote out names in blood
On a tree our names engraved.

Running through hemlock groves
Swimming through moonlit waves
Our friendship is a cobalt haze
Fortune smiles upon the brave....

Foxes
Some humans are foxes
let them sit and reflect
before a fox of men
they were fragile babies

Some humans are inhuman
let them shut eyes and see
before acting inhumanly
they were humane

Some humans are angry cocks
let them cool down and check
before behaving as angry cocks
they were talon-less chicks

No one is best, no one must be fox
Treat humans as human you are...

Feral
She was feral

She was real

And amazingly wild

Long talon like nails

And razor sharp teeth

Eyes like a cat

Born with curiosity

Born so feral, wild and free

Screams like a wildcat

Hear her screech

Best if you stay

Out of her reach

So feral

So individual

Cannot be taught

Tamed or schooled

Feral yet still somehow

Dangerously beautiful....

And when the end comes
it comes very fast indeed
Not always in slow motion
but at breakneck speed
Said the Woodpecker to the
larva, I kill Swiftly to feed!
But you’re just a Cuckoo
see how, your head bleeds
No wait! it’s a Hawk talon
TWIST SNAP! When Crowing
one should pay more heed

A Flight On New Years Eve
Outside branches clawed the slate,
Dragging frosty talon nails,
Whilst high above the moon there sails
A silver jet on vapour trails;
Unknown, sat in her steely hull they wait,
Whoever they may be, they are,
The time-zone throng who travel far,
The riders of the shooting star.
Erased to faceless, sketchy visions,
Sped across the sky,
As grounded, rooted – wonder, watch,
The last year passing by....

The ivy plant, green and bold hugging the
Iron gate

             Guards the dwellers within
Unaware tho they might be

The midnight visitor, well acquainted with

Deposits fresh fertilizer as the luxurious
Leaves, intricately intertwined

Provide purposeful seclusion for Ivy's friend
Unseen by the horrific, harassing

Talon-fanged

Even predators have mothers
and with the soft mewling eyes of infancy
they search, search for the breast of mother
the beak, the tooth, the talon, the claw…
Children worldwide hunger.
The small weak voices and stone dead eyes calling out
to those who have…
Mothers making stone soup.
Mothers giving of their own body the last
remnants of harsh life as the haves
go on safari’s or to zoos to
feed the animals....

Premium Member Sea Eagle Talons
Here comes the talon bird, sea eagle to you.
His grizzly bear claws will do much damage too.
A grip strong enough to break a human’s arm.
I was stunned to find this talon bird no my farm.

Stay away from the window, hide in the closet if you can.
With those talons he could probably carry away a small man.
If he knocks on the door, pretend that no one is home.
Today’s entertainment for me has been writing this poem....

Safe Places Are Hard When You Hide From Sharp Eyes
Safe places are hard when you hide from sharp eyes.
Anxiety says: when you’re a mouse, you scurry fast.
The mouse wonders… what if the eagle nearby is skillfully disguised?

Little mouse trembles when dark might be the shadow of wings.
Little mouse knows the grin could be stuck on a talon.

Doubtfully, hopefully, little mouse whispers, whiskers quivering:
the eagle is nowhere.
Looks to the sky and finds
a swift and starving falcon....

Raven Boy
He exits the egg sable and glossy.
Eyes clear, wide, bottomless.
Puckered skin shrouds spiked limbs.
Years of tears soak the tattered yolk sac.

The mask is fastened, buckled,
buttoned and stitched.
There is safety behind the leather.
Smile through beak and feather.

Wings span above street and house.
Talon and tool sharpen and flex.
The soft ones sleep inside, locked and warm.
But he has ways.
And he can problem solve.
With the best of them....

On Words
Let me speak of words

Those machines of evil!

The cogs and pulleys of influence,
drumbeats of the longest march
called the human endeavor

First heard as motherese,
later teaching the ABC's

They fill our ears with lies,
and our heads with alibis

They drape themselves in tinsel,
bedecked with popular acclaim
All the while concealing the poisoned talon

O beware of words!

Take care to use with deliberation,
as they hatch from the mother egg...

Premium Member Tony Robbins,Bf Skinner and the Muse
Nighttime, the muse is tangled in the talon of riots
catching bricks to the head- mace to the eyes-
Come morning it sips unholy cups of politics
heavily sweetened with the latest deadly virus-
Noontime it wears a brooding- grimacing mask
it's very breath under the most vicious attacks-
Its spending more time in its darkened cave
9 mm alpha dreaming of an omega escape-
Now it'll only listen to T. Robbins and B.F Skinner
slowly become a braying-blue ribbon beggar....

Dark Spirit

Where did you come from
what exactly are you
Evil lurks in your lum
your works are not queue

you prey on the weak
so you can feel strong
these words I do speak
until transformation comes along

you feed into famine
and sickness you allow
your arm is as a talon
you rip the flesh you vow

some may not understand this
I hope that soon will dissipate
this longing for a world of bliss
I cry out to annotate

*This poem came to mind after reading Revelations...
