Premium Member meeting the enemy
I cringed when I saw her coming straight toward me, she was kamikaze cat.
She did not care who she took out, but she was swifter than a bat.
Fearless, ready to die too, she brutally crashed into my terrified plane.
As we walked into heaven she had the nerve to ask me my name....

Change

No songbird sings at dawn.
Its gray the whole day long.
In deep wells we are sinking,
from doing too much thinking.

No star shines in night’s sea,
twinkling bright for you and me.
Things are moving very fast,
swifter than the Earth can last.

Like deer they run, so gracefully
With winged feet, youth's pedigree
They flow along, near-effortless
Like deer they run, so gracefully
On straightaways, they're swifter yet
Lithe frames incline, take off like jets
Like deer they run, so gracefully
Winged feet, youth's pedigree...

Ass Race
With a thoroughbred jackass great
2 scores and 10 pounds overweight,
I am going to an ultimate horse race
Hoping to win at a swifter and easy pace;

God willing the race will be close and tight
No one dares smother this heavenly delight,
This race looks not like an earthly class
May God bless me and bedevil my ass.

Let
Darkness! The Spirit hovering
Void! Our breath not yet risen
Our pride not yet established
Creativity's prime fully finished
'Let' is the creative force
swifter than a racing horse
'Let' provokes the still to motion
'Let' is the strength of creation
All the beautiful things we see
are fashions of the decree
from the fiery breath of Jehovah
who reigns forever......

Moments In Pain
I remember the days
Swifter than Usain Bolt
When they skimmed past
Without a glimpse of joy
The moments in pain
When a thick cloud
Settled over my dream
And deep darkness
Swallowed up my vision

It is of moments in my life
When pain was rife
With no peep of brightness
But the deep of darkness
Of my moments in pain
When my life was pale
With no glimpse of dawn
But bounds of downs...

Never-Ending Ride
Riding horses towards crimson sun
Ginger twists of her hair everywhere,
Smiling my darling enjoys the ride
While I only picture her eyes,
Could never reach her even
For a moment for a second,
Swifter I pursue, farther she runs
Craving her hands for a touch,
Neither near nor I am far
I'm not hers and she's not mine,
Now the park is closed, children gone
But I don't want this carousel to stop....

Premium Member Only God Knows Why
One hour fifty-seven minutes and forty seconds
to remember the life of a husband, a father, a man of faith
who died at the speed of an assassin's bullet,
swifter than the blink of an eye,
and only God knows why.

Three things will last forever
—faith, hope, and love—
and the greatest of these is love.

Yes it's a tragic fact
evil can stop a life,
but evil cannot--
will never--stop love!...

The Word (Revised)
For Deborah Guzzi

The flames do scorch and char, but consume not
Your words are mighty, strong, and swifter than a sword.
To build the edificationof Christ.
The evil one desires to take
The babies out the crib, to destruction
The children need instructions, sing, and praise!
The word for you and your esteem to reign!

attempt at blank verse!!
Recieved a honorable mention in the contest!!
Thanks Deborah!!...

Burlap
When the sky is raining tears,
and you reflect on all your years,
wasted lifetime hoarding fears,
a life or burlap, not cashmeres.

The ticking of the clock persists,
as time, they say, does not exist,
can time and timeless coexist?
can you hold them in your fist?

All your joints are getting stiffer,
life's not short, you beg to differ,
you wish the days and nights were swifter,
as you suppress a potent shiver.

Kitchen Frights
An uncertain time,
light switch in the dark
whirr of wings,
unlocated -
swift hither, swifter thither
soft mousy leather.
Fledermaus,
Bat!

On the ceiling,
fridge top,
skitter of featherless wings
in the air a timid fear,
clinging now to a hook.

Throw open the screen door,
Circle back, head ducked,
flap towel
shout something, anything but yes.
Blurred flight zooms past left ear.

Put heartbeats
back into their drum,
make coffee....

The Word
Flames scorch, char and rot but do not consume
Tease; use your body and soul for evil
Words mighty and strong, swifter than a two
Edge sword; stand for the edification
Of Christ. Before the evil one takes YOUR
Babies out of the crib, to destruction
Teach the children, his Word, sing His praises.
Unlock my words, lord, for your vast kingdom
Prayers for your kingdom, forever to reign!

Waiting On a Goodbye
Gazing through an open and sunless window,
this lonely poet admires the Autumn's auburn scenery;
ravens, shallows and sparrows gather on the faded lawn...
waiting on a goodbye I can't approve without tears or melancholy.

My sorrow will flee swifter than their speed,
and although their journey will be brief, I will grieve
by watching their nests tossed by the fierce wind with a loud cry;
o sad and shivering creatures, sing me your last song as I wait on your goodbye!...

Premium Member Tin Can Kid
Happy (dead) Mother's Day.
A fistful of flowers for your final resting place.
Wasn't blessed with the time to know you.
Your demise was far swifter than your time.
Just a few clips on a strip of 8mm film
From that ancient time:
Your smile was sweet and wide.
A cat named Blue.
A piggyback ride
A split lip from a tin can kid.
Black crows surrounding a bloody bed.
A silver music box to remind me of your death.
Time is gracious, to sweep the rot from inside the head....

Wild Safari In West Africa
Twelve men louder than cowboys engage in a wild safari
on a plain of West Africa where the grass is yellow and dry,
they chase after gazelles slender and swifter than tigers...
run gazelles, don't let hunters capture you in this wilderness!

Africa is your home, and you were raised being totally free
as others animals are...these mad hunters have no pity for you,
they're after huge profits and don't care if your cubs get hungry;
they will capture you by inducing pain and sell you to a zoo!...
