Waiting On a Goodbye

Gazing through an open and sunless window, this lonely poet admires the Autumn's auburn scenery; ravens, shallows and sparrows gather on the faded lawn... waiting on a goodbye I can't approve without tears or melancholy. My sorrow will flee swifter than their speed, and although their journey will be brief, I will grieve by watching their nests tossed by the fierce wind with a loud cry; o sad and shivering creatures, sing me your last song as I wait on your goodbye!
