Premium Member Civilization Down the Drain

In WW2 Sweden sheltered
    Jews in desperate need

Today Swedes burn a Torah scroll
     a brutish, dastardly deed

“In Sweden”, our host did proclaim
“We all eat a whole lot of game
Not chicken or goose
But reindeer and moose
And we eat it with no sense of shame”

Premium Member Forty Three Foot Goat In Sweden

The inventive Swedish town of Gayle
Every winter holiday without fail,
makes a forty-three foot goat
Out of straw and an oat
It’s totally true, not a wild tale.

A Man From Sweden

A Man from Sweden
There was a man from Sweden,
Who married a Yemeni maiden,
He had to wear the futah,
And daily eat the Saltah,
So he could lead a happy life in Aden.

Lucky Leprechaun

There once was an old elf from Sweden
who envisioned Ireland as Eden.
He made the trip west
and in a gold chest
found shoemakers’ tools to succeed in.

Premium Member Reading To Toddler

With a sweet swish and a swirl
Six silly swilling simple swans swam in sight of Sweden town.
IT DOES NOT SAY THAT!
Perils of trying to change any words
During the reading of a three-year-old’s favorite book.

Somewhere In Sweden

To Kerstin from Sweden

1.

Somewhere, in Sweden

there is a little red house

and field around it.

There are kind horses,

who look sorrowfully

at their dear Kerstin,

who lives in this little red house

Somewhere in Sweden.

Premium Member Hip Hop Mouse

punky spunky hip hop mouse loved to dance
he took his show from Sweden to France
Shook his tail and stomped his enormous feet
best of all, had lots of tasty new things to eat

His hair was purple, pink, orange and blue
Always different colors, said his sister Sue
She traveled around and watched him dance.
Best scones, she said, she found in France.

Stockholm Shame

Science
has brought
us closer
to the edge of our oblivion
Nuclear fission
angel dust
processed foods
and smog
Two steps forward
ten steps back
ennobling every dirty fact
as children choke and cry
There’s one award
the Swede’s leave out
that’s missing
on their dais
The Nobel Prize
for mass destruction
as progress masquerades
— unchecked

Chance.' You have enhanced many fears.' You've destroyed
Credibility with such a deceitful agility.' In 'the Age you'll be
Re-corded as no doubt paragons of order.? And Malcom you were doing so well.!! Even Sweden knew of you.' And I here that tell.
Tell..? The whole world has been made now poorer, by your inactions
Regarding Victoria.'

Winter In Sweden

Below zero in a refrigerator,
I sat in a fetal position,
Trembled like a wet wren,
Yearning to feel the blazing flame of summer.
Teeth chatting with those brain neurons,
Fist clenching, not able to move,
Hypothermia began to set in,
My cells were paralyzed by the monster.
My heart, a sleeping dove,
Silenced and tranquilized,
Each heart beat longed to dance
But the hideous snowflakes forbad it.

The Odd Man Julian

The Odd Man Julian

Julian Assange, is his reluctance returning
to Sweden based on fear of being sent to
USA, the only reason. Or can it be he can´t
face the sexual humiliation and intimate
questioning he will be subjected to; that
his immeasurable ego cannot tolerate it?
As it is should he get to Ecuador, he will
always be a person sought by Swedish law
as a man accused of having committed
a sexual crime.

Eden of my eye
Beauty in culture of ten million
Garden of my eye
Haven of brethren and sistren

Values never weakened, in words spoken
Freedom strengthened, heritage golden

Sprinkled love in dynamite
Ceilings of heaven in stalactites
Grounds softened by stalagmites
Citizens' history, written in strobe light

Magnets of loving people
Ore of the grounds supple
Blanket of salvation
Tablet and core of the nation

Abisko Day

Abisko Day

It is the intensity of the light I notice. Vivid autumn colours of yellow and gold bathe me in their warmth and brightness.
A deep sense of peace transcends. Can life really be this good. I feel protected. Fears and worries subside, replaced by a joyful sense of being alive and well.
There is no fog dulling my thoughts. Movements free without pain. This perfect moment. The sound of nearby water running over rocks. Otherwise silence and the pure brilliant light

I Could Drown

In a boat
Rowing around the moat
Of my family’s latest castle

The one with towers and a flag with a tassel
And it really seems to me a lot of hassle
That the drawbridge is up and not down

The water’s very brown
I could drown

* based on Prince Magnus of Sweden, who nearly drowned during the construction of the castle drawbridge (another time, he allegedly leapt into the moat believing he saw a mermaid).

Man Eater

Man Eater.
I was filleting a mackerel when I found a finger in its innards
not much left of it looked like a prawn shell with fingernail,
I said nothing dipped the fillets in flour and deep fried them
served with cucumber salad, boiled potatoes and melted
butter, just the way they like it in Sweden.
The finger was spotted again amongst all the stuff to be thrown
into the bin. great commotion, I said nothing, but have not since
been eating mackerels, they apparently feed on fishermen.
