Premium Member Writing In Sand and Stone

Writing "I love you" in the sand suggests that love is meant to fade;
That it can be washed away by life's periodic tides.
I suggest we write our love in stone, always carving it deeper.

Personal Tag

There’s a personal tag on my car
It’s a stand out in my repertoire
It suggests ‘HUG’M NOW,’
And it must be highbrow,
For the source was our friend NPR.

Betrayal

Mercury nights unrelieved
betrayal passionately suggests
Our future- parallel in jest
From jumping many potholes
Freewheeling college enterprises
Found my candle beside a manhole
Your tongue is dirty like fame

Veiled Irises

To explore the mystery,
Behind veils of irises
Covering sinful beauty;
I am imprisoned, no less
By the pain your look suggests.

Mood Swings

Tragically, I am happy,
not much to moan about.

Contentment can get old real quick.

Mind suggests turning on the TV
to Fox News or even CNN.

Tragedy! Doom everywhere!

Now I am back,
now I am cussing under my breath,
but softly
so my wife don't hear.

Premium Member Zen mode

mind suggests we leap
transcending the concept
of an extra day imaginary
brought forth on this day
being a leap year

a sunbird builds a nest
knowing only love
renewing within its heart
in the ever present now
with no memory imagery

ah! to be the bird …

Already

writing this
next poem
i think i
wrote

this before
but my mind's
rolodex suggests
something similar but

not quite
the same
but the
same

though
i want to
pen a poem
in present tense

my time has
just ended before
posting this this will be

Premium Member Is that another laugh

I reach for a book
A tiny arm comes out of the spine
The arm slaps my hand
Not that one, my muse suggests

The next novel laughs as I open her
Then she screams
But wait
Is that another laugh?

Have these missives always been alive?
Why has it taken me so long to notice?

Premium Member Moles Day In the Sun

Nevus, dysplastic
Less than fantastic
Asymmetric?
Center line trick
Irregular border
Suggests disorder
Highly colored?
It’s no dullard.
Diameter large?
Time to take charge!
Rapid evolution?
Seek a solution.
See your derm path
For that mole
Before his burrows
Take their toll.

Change

The hour suggests me
the day re-forms

No need to interrogate mirrors
thawing revelations have turned glass
into watercourses
I have begun to live out-of-myself
- at a distance
a new skin for an old ghost
just a breath away

and no longer clutching
at an out of hand
life raft

Change

The hour suggests me,
the day re-forms.
No need to talk to the bathroom mirror,
new skin and a new nakedness of features
are obvious.
Time tested
I live out-of-myself,
just a breath away from any former reality.
Though I am changed and still changing,
the light in these eyes are the same.

Bavarian Barista

Bavarian Barista

At that first taste,
my initial savoring sip,
smoky, rich, strong,

unlike any anywhere,
anytime I had ever had
and I had had my share,

but this German Kaffee
mit zucker und kreme,
served hot as her smile

suggests a second cup
for the rest of my life.
