A Day Off
Born in Paris: Ineffective
Tossed off in a clown suburb;
All what is left a booze somewhere....

Unborn
Born in Paris into a cubbyhole;
Someone tossed me off in the suburb;
All what is left a bind around my neck....

Where I Live
Where I live
not a place less given.
No flashy lights,
no crazy sirens.
No crowded streets,
no rush hour traffic.
But, a little suburb that happened to be
an hour down from Illinois best.
CHICAGO!...

Green Turbaned Man
In the semi-arid suburb, Medina,
A high pitch of sound echoed.
It dopplered through misty shrubs.
A helical dawn goes tidally.
The Pathfinder: stepped,
deep nodded, starry-eyed,
Scarfed fragrant keffiyeh.
Reeled a full throttle of forgiven,
Headed to his students.
The teaching of liberty,
Primed course of life....

Until It Is Not
I am sorry
I'm not more
exciting.
I meant to be
for you,
an adventurer
with mountaintop stories,
or someone
with a limp
hinting at a life
starting
with the gift of an early struggle.
My presence is a bland suburb
of wanting,
anything
other
than what is
in (front of) me,
until it is not.

Lonely Beauty
Sunny autumn dawn
Freezing cold I yawn
Frozen grass verge lawn
Pulse of new day dawns
In this suburb here
A black cat strides near
Not a soul in sight
In the morning light
Nothing much to see
Strange solitary
Just like that pink rose
Rare beauty up close
By that lonely verge
Watch dazzle emerge

Nowboy
He's an urban redneck
Likes his George and Madflex
He's country and what's next
Metropolis with crops
From barn to the city
Farming in the nitty-gritty
He's surrounded by concrete
Too many suburb plots
Sticking to dirt past
Agricultural for the future
He's certain who are unsure
Aware of hidden costs
Plowing his own stake
And modern, make no mistake
He's in tune to the horizon
Up until he drops off...

Goodnight Belle
Sailing the airwaves
A pilot light and passengers
I sung a tune so sweet
Now I'll play it back to you
On through the aether
I spent a coin or two
With you and those friends
I can't pay it back to you
In a garden of cigarette buds
The rain touched my lips
Where you didn't kiss
I won't kiss you back
Back in this suburb of ours
With you left to the city
And all its changing rhythm
You will dance with them...

The Fog
In the early suburb mornings,
Out on the county roads
There is heavy fog in view
It should slow traffic down to a roll.
But that's not always the case,
When there is gloom, that comes into play
It plays with the lives of people
The obscure took some lives today.
Sad to say this, but it's the truth,
We all know precisely just what to do
Slow down on those county roads
"Or the fog will eventually take you."...

Australian King Parrot
Scarlet green exotic plume bird
on occasions, endemic to the wooded
eucalyptus plot in torrid upper reach
red winged flyer, blue stripe and grey beak
species found in outer suburb niche,
northern Sydney beach, or steep-faced
deep ravine in parts of Queensland.
They can be such a charming pet when raised
in aviaries, devoted, saying very little but
of warm and fair attachment all the same

T 1 Bay
Shady Sail Ills Forgotten,
Crests and Peaks Roll with the Laugh-in’.
Eyes and Heirs Make No Bones,
No Want Nor Wish, To Know 'the Jones.’
Tis Where You Rise,
Tis Where You’ll Lay,
There's Nowhere Else, Like T1Bay.
About a cool suburb called Tiitahi (Tee Tah He) Bay in a city called Porirua, Wellington Aotearoa-New Zealand. 'Ti' (tee) is the Maori word for a Cabbage Tree. 'Tahi' means number one or single in Maori....

The Opportunity
My son was raised a city boy
But starting at age five,
We also had a country house;
In both, he seemed to thrive.
Yet he grew up and made his home
In neither one; instead,
A suburb of New York is where
His family goes to bed.
So it’s a thrill to spend some time
With grandkids in each place
Their father spent his childhood,
Hoping that they will embrace
A little bit of what, perhaps,
Helped shape what made their dad.
I’m glad this opportunity
Is one that I have had....
