Abdication
I will doff my ermine gown
and take off my kingly crown.
The day declines, the course is run,
on fleece of gold reclines the sun.

I'll not retouche the Mona Lisa
or straighten up the Tower of Pisa.
Further work in that connection
I leave to those who seek perfection....

Keep Your Eyes On the Prize
Young man,
Straighten up your back and fly right
Now, grab hold of them pants and
Follow your dreams
They do come true
Yes, it can happen to you
Pluck them stars from the sky
Dance on a cloud
No matter how difficult life is, or
The road we must travel,
Just keep on pushing
Follow the sun, and
Keep your eyes on the prize...

Premium Member in the psycho anteroom
in his newly built spiritual psycho-anteroom
his reflection in the mirror swiftly changed
his grandmother appeared with a message

you will have other lifetimes
but I am your spirit guide in this one
straighten up my darling

this mystical magic was unforeseen
he watched her disappear into the mirror
knowing his life had forever changed...

I Believe
I am standing by your side.
I'm not gonna run and hide.
You made your mistakes,
And you paid you price.
Now it's time to straighten up your life.
Stay with me, you'll never go wrong.
Our relationship is meant to be strong.
You are the one I truly love.
I believe we were meant to be.
And I hope that you will,
Stay with me, because I believe....

Lesson Learned
When you're feeling really sad
For something that just turned out bad
Just think about what you have done
And what you lost and what you won
And why you went a bit astray
To really make you feel this way
So straighten up and take a stance
You always get a second chance
Let good thoughts in your mind just stay
And evil thoughts you throw away....

The Ringing R
By no mistake my name is Richard
And I am chauffeured in a rickshaw
A rickshaw that comes first in a row
With others that roll on shining rims
As I desire to get to the riches

My way to the riches is a riddle
But I will straighten up the rickets
And scoop the material that is raw
And then shake it until it is ripe
And then become that real rich Richard...

Before a Trip
Before a trip, of course you pack
And shop for needed things you lack;
Then just so there will be no flack,
You straighten up your home.

You give your plants an extra snack
And raise the windows just a crack;
Then leave a bag to hold the stack
Of papers while you roam.

Do all of this while keeping track
So you don’t have a stress attack
And maybe, if you have the knack,
Describe it in a poem....

Unplug That Nightlight
(This is a fictional poem)

You can't sleep in the dark because of fright.
You need the security of a nightlight.
I'm tired of putting up with it.
I'm not taking anymore bull____.
You think there are monsters under your bed.
You'd better straighten up or I'll hit you upside the head.
I can understand a child using a nightlight but you're twenty-three.
Unplug that nightlight or you'll get your ___ kicked by me....

Premium Member The Perfect Woman
She sewed and worked a garden,
did the dishes all by hand;
her wiggling giggling kids
would straighten up at her command.

Her leftovers were loved as much
as was the chocolate cake
she drizzled with that special sauce
she always used to make.

Today they’d call her backwards,
but we knew perfectly
that all SHE’D ever wanted
Was what she came to be.

What Goes Around
Bring me back to I don't care
Back to I'll just comb my hair
Straighten up my ruffled shirt
And never never show I hurt
Freedom isn't free. I paid
And still I owe and earn
This welfare state is not for me
When will the people learn?
It's november fourth today
And I took the time to vote
It's just a goodbye way to say
To all I learned by rote
Freedom isn't free for me
Though more will disagree
I put my time in guarding thee
Goodbye that's all she wrote...

My Dad Hates Me
My dad hates me hes always on my case
Morning noon and night hes always in my face
Clean your room up its just not fair
Straighten up your tie do something with your hair
And if its not my dad its my mum
Put a smile on your face you always look so glum
Well i aint got much to smile about i say
Well she says do as your told and everything will be ok
So i sulk stamp my feet go to my room to be on my own
Thinking about it though im 32
Think its time i left home...
