Fighting Wind
The wind is beating against my face,
Cutting through my jacket like butter,
Freezing my limbs slowly to the bone,
Blowing away my only warmth,
As i stare down this pitch white road....

Tangled Web
words
tangled in a web
dance around
play games
hide true meaning
why does no one just speak
say what they want
what they mean
please tell me
is it truth
or do you also lie
because now I can only wonder
and stare down
looking at the web...

Death's Tribute
With memory escaping,
 you stare down the hall

From that place where you hang,
 last nail in the wall

You once were a sovereign,
you used to be real

What death left in tribute
—your portrait conceals

(Villanova Pennsylvania: January, 2020)...

Few Words Fore the Light
Has it really, really come to this Lord?
That you demonstrate your earthly failure
Through the use of a sacrificial sword
Worse through proclamation in a brochure.

We stare down the barrel of a bottle
In darkness we gaze at the pledge maker
Answer the question fore the rising sun
The last thought fore we meet our caretaker....

Mind Not
Mind not about tomorrow
Let tomorrow worry about you
Sing not the song you sang yesterday
A new one will take you through
You’re this fearless strong flying king
Not the one yesterday they overthrew
And you gotta go flying high with your new wings
No one will tell where you flew
But if you dare stare down at folks sing
You will fall down upon the floor....

Writin' Spirit
I need three sheets
to teach the wind a lesson
perform some fantastic feats
then leave everyone guessin'
        have a little stare down
        with this here first bottle
will me or beer take the crown?
        who'll dish out the throttle?
ha ha! I fooled you!
I know when to quit
but first what I'll do
is have fun with this writin' spirit!...

Premium Member Lovely Sound
I love the joyous sound
of the merry-go-round
sometimes I stare down
at the moving ground
my heart goes pound
I’m the happiest in town
when it goes around
on it, I can’t be found
I notice it and start to mound
my safe place don't hound
don’t make fun or clown
me and that ride are bound
cause I love the sound
of the sweet merry-go-round

Morning Mantra: Power Trip
I shower me with love
Nearly every given hour
I lower me down this gove
Soon bloom into a rare flower
Be a sower's precious trove
But I'll still want to rise higher
So I start to scour the skies above
And fall in love with a night flyer
Won't cower beneath that cove
Stare down fear to claim my power
I tower high over its cave
Sail past the skies on sheer willpower...

Premium Member The Pondering Clown
Every day I see a pondering clown
He rests his arms on a stone platform
No one knows what he is thinking
His eyes stare down -there is no smile
both hands to his face, looking so sad

The eyes look like he will cry tears
He carries the worries of the world
Wonders what will happen next
This pondering clown is part of my collection
Sitting on my shelf, I see him every day...

Premium Member I Choose To Be a Leatherback Sea Turtle
If there is reincarnation
and we get to choose another animal
I shall come back as a leatherback turtle
all humpback and proud
I will be eight foot long, and weigh two thousand pounds
Intimidating and formidable, I would stare down sharks
whales would marvel at my thick swimmers legs
I would swim my weight around in the sea
enjoying my days floating and eating
not doing math of any kind...

Life With Wings
I sit and watch my life flying by
sit idly as i stare at the sky
wondering what has changed.

The sun still shines brightly
The moon still comes nightly
Yet deep down i feel chained.

The world once warm and friendly
tries to break and bend me
as i feel pained, pained, pained.

pray to the stars, your god, or your heart
stare down blankly at the medical chart
and know that your world has changed....

Poetry notes:
5/21/2018

I parked my car and there's a stare down between me and spidey. I didn't know when I opened the door if it would drop inside the car (not good) or outside (preferable). I was only held hostage for 3 or so minutes until I made my move. Success! Both of us walked away from the car in different directions :)...

Premium Member The Thrill of the Hunt
It is a quiet room
Not designed for
But morphed into
A place of reflection.

Too old to hunt
I am left with my “trophies”
Dust covered mementos
Of an eager youth
Embracing the inherent danger
Facing the unknown
Daring to stare down the herd
Single out the prize
and wait
for the perfect moment
to click
send to cart.

Thus, I now sit
In my Amazon Trophy Room
Surrounded by…..

Occasionally There Is a Fire That Runs Through My Veins
occasionally there is a fire that runs through my veins
that makes me slink into my slinky pants
and imagine the lust that would show in your eyes

but I fall onto my
solemn couch with a
million things to do
in the backyard of my mind

and I smell the tide of the washer
I stare down the dirty plates in the sink

and I see the beautiful blue sky
and me me me just me
and how it is

I give you a deep kiss
and change the laundry...

Heat
Her songs come and make love to me
each note stroked so enticingly
they twist and they twirl
engulfing her pearl
I reside deep in Calliope

Entwined we are starved by the night
two souls that are holding on tight
'low passionate skies
entranced by her eyes
I make her my lunar delight

Tongue tips and teeth that desire
true love that's burning on fire
stare down our sure death
both gasping for breath
this heat can't get much higher...

Sun
Smoking spitter,
Hell is where is holiday,
We watch you stare us down,
Falling, but held in heaven's black old town,

Son of no father,
Father of everyone,

Is your kind of fire in my kind of heart?,
We are all born blind,
So do we all shine from the start?,

Sitting between the shine and shade,
Am I the "We" that you forbade?,
Watching you stare down,
Falling...
Still in heaven's black old town,
We just wait... for heaven's sundown,
We, as babies on the ground...
