Redeem Your Name

You made a promise
Staking your name
You owe a debt
To just yourself.

You owe yourself
To pay the debt
Redeem your name
Fulfil your promise.

Price of Freedom

the word slave
has never fade
so much was don
some say we won
so much to be done
some state they still debate
thats what it takes
walking and talking and staking

PRICES OF FREEDOM

The Mailman

The whispers of The Mailman come staking you at night.
The whispers of The Mailman will steal from your delight.
The whispers of The Mailman will scare you half to death,
But read the letters of The Mailman? You'll hear your final breath.

September

Playing hide and seek with Summer
Autumns arrogance displayed
Staking claim to all it covets
September settles on the glade

A new palate is presented
Colors of more rustic shade
Bold strokes that transform the canvas
Septembers entrance has been made

Mixed Feelings

I’ve always heard of the way
Great Grandfather was moved by force
Because his tribe wasn’t white of course
While other of my kin took the leads
Staking claims for their families needs
He always cursed the day

War Children

One-Two-Three-Thud-Boom!
Ding-Dong-Ding-Dong-Ding…
Mourn oh bells the tender life of children
Gushing from a hole of hatred
Materialized thru metal casings
In a land where we’ve made staking
To keep our way still in the making
With children dying and leaders faking

Pattern Wave

Finding a way out of the maze
Depends on how one is raised
Opportunity casually dressed
Laid in books fine print
Leaving choice up to you
Filling the slate with new
The better the information

Shallowness defused

Premium Member The Horizon's Light

It really matters how you're facing
When with your sight you're gazing

Towards the light on the horizon staking
Your heart emotions shaking

At the time of light's breaking
A moment of life’s relating

Twilight of life or the sunrise's creation
Is a product of your own making

The Winter Snows

Planting words inside my garden,
  watering them at will

Staking memories long forgotten,
  feelings cold and shrill

Row by row the letters planted,
  phrases start to grow

Whose cool fall day a harvest brings
  —to feed the winter snows

When the Evening Calls

Racing street lights, hear the siren call.
Way out past the swing bridge, newspaper on your floor.
Bound by intermission so young it's hard to care.
These residents of teardrops stray north to lame somewhere.

Down the steps I've wandered in and out of summer shade,
Staking talk and memory
In the dim light of my dreams.

Premium Member He's Baack

On the heels of
last week’s snow storm,
Red Winged Blackbirds
have returned.
Resplendent males
red epaulets flared
against sleek black feathers
against cold white snow.
Staking their
patch of cattails,
each holding forth
Lord of his territory
each lustily calling
 "Okalee"
till his Lady arrives
fashionably late
with warmer weather.

Only In Passing

I passed over Monet this morning--an Ohio River-crossing;
the promise fulfilled with ante meridian mists,
trees, sun, and deep, moving waters
exploding in mute reflection
as leaves on the banks paid homage.

Sudden, brush-filled hands shot up from the depths--Excaliburs all--
staking their ancient claims to everlasting morning glory.

Sunday

mud up to my ankles
but the sun is warm....

geese are honking staking their claim
but the sun is warm

dog sits at the lake edge
wondering should he jump in
oh that sun is warm

just a sweatshirt
and some sunglasses
 that sun is warm

the pain of winter receeds
like the pain of childbirth
turn your face up
the sun is warm

Premium Member Staking a Claim

Staking a valid claim
is important I hear,
if one would reap reward
for inventing a thing,
or getting an award.

Staking a valid claim
is good information,
protecting ownership
or creative effort,
a new computer chip.

Staking a valid claim
it’s so necessary
to protect what you make,
even poem or rhyme
plagiarizers take.

Autumn : Compulsive Gambler

AUTUMN : COMPULSIVE GAMBLER

Waste leaves no gain
Only loser-game pain.
Autumn squanderer, late season gambler,
Compulsive, forced spender,
Staking every last gold penny.
Feels he can afford the luxury,
Throws his yellow banknotes to the floor
In dramatic confidence gesture,
Betting that winter won’t come yet.

He will lose the bet.

Silver Queen

The silver birch
presides over the scree
A caravan of love
proceeds duly eastwards
I'm staking my faith in you

The wind whistles past
We are on the road again
to magic lands where the gypsy queen shows
the world her love

where you find
butterflies and buttercups
smiling in the rain,
and hope waiting for time
our faith connected to the earth
uncorrupted

Ripe

promise comes and shines its light
a new piece of heaven in azure sky
it grows ripe on a green vine
to taste this wonder that is now mine

fantasy plants its seed again
juice drips freely down my chin
no turning back once I begin
I'm staking claim and digging in

arms to hold me in the night
kisses burn and do excite
heating passion as I squeeze tight
hidden joy and love's delight

Love Song

the walls I built
have fallen down
without a struggle
without a sound

you lit the shadows
an eternal flame
kindled passion
staking claim

engulfing me
in warmth and love
all I needed
you thought of

take me now
to that special place
always started
with your embrace

loving tender
loving strong
loving promises
for which I long

passion started
a voice that’s strong
sing to me
a new love song

Fire Wall

Someone's sneaking,
reading, peeking,
poking, prying, trying, seeking...
Seeing if your secret's leaking,
seeping through, the walls have weakened,
finding out the facts you're keeping
seeing through your thin disguise...

And someone's breaking
enter, taking,
entertaining, gaining, raking
in the money for the making,
staking out the doubt you're shaking
seeing through the You you're faking
knowing you're Just Living Lies.

Premium Member Sun Dried Rain

Listen to poem:
Sun-Dried Rain
David J Walker

Following the path of
Southwest winds

Carving canyons
Starving clouds and land alike

Making sand of topsoil
As pilgrims pray for rain

staking a claim in blowing dust
In bilingual refrains

of long missed moisture
and drying rust

Sun-dried children cleansed and swaying
on backyard clothes lines

dying for a drop
of Sun-Dried rain

Who will be selected Queen of
This year’s Dust Storm Fest

Premium Member Lack of a Cure

Listen to poem:
The end will come very soon
steal the beloved left behind
after fools have expired
sealing doom in aftermath

a fate none seek is ensured
by the lack of a pressing cure
when medicine is put aside
by the infirm who will die

before the worse comes to pass
leaving nothing then to last
sweeping all from the earth
reduced to beasts as a curse

still the fools have their day
staking comfort in the blink
living large in twilight years
before a hell descends to earth.

Fear

The ever growing sense of danger
prevails through
sweat and quick glances,
the shadow ballet
with offbeat dances.
The melodrama playing out in your heart
vibrating with each beat.
All in the synaptic choir
singing the intro of your panic.
As the people start to chant
while tension wounds even tighter,
the warrior in you the fighter
comes through.
To save the day and be a hero
from the pain staking moments
leading to and fro
that equals to nothing less
than pure fear.

The Darkness In My Heart

Do not judge my character...
Love me like
I am;
Don't leave me in
the shadow of what
Use to be....
My heart cracks at the selfish
feeling of your inner soul...
Like you don't care
About me....
My tears of pain-staking sorrow
Fills me...
Please don't leave..
My heart breaks and shatters on the
Splattered floor...
And darkness over came
Me like the moon at midnight....
But you loved me...
Loved me
Because at the end of my
Sorrow and pain....
You came for me......
