She Walks In Beauty
cool waves
crest golden sands
white spume tickles naked
toes, as I stroll in silence by
the shore
precious
memories of
family holidays
children flown the nest, now I walk
alone...

The Last Grave
As centuries pass
The seas advance
To take away the land.
Lost to the waves
The ancient graves
Reside below the sand.
Cliffs that crumble
Remains lay humble
Eroded by the brine.
The final tomb
To meet the spume
Clings to the shoreline....

Childhood Memories- Tet
Waves
and spume
tickles toes
as I paddle
on the shore ... reliving my childhood days
Sweet memories come flooding back to me
a tiny tot
having fun
in the
sea

Crocodile Surf
CROCODILE SURF
Curving surf and plunging
Breakers open up and and snarl over
And slap down closed,
Crest of breaker a jagged rim
Dripping long fangs of water
Before snapping shut,
And the surfer disappears
Threshing helplessly in the spume
Of the jaws and the foaming saliva....

Boom
Where once I saw the sun
flare like a peacock,
fish bones hiss
on a shale whipped beach,
banshee’s are dredged from sandy graves,
spume slaps nests of air.
Waves boom inside my beached ribs.
I am so full of sadness
that I hear myself mew
like a gull in a gale
when it tumbles
as flightless as stone....

Spring Buds Strung
Sprung buds strung along branches burst into bloom
Unsung, a tad early, unheralded sly petals plume
A spurt and squirt of color to break winter's gloom and doom
Like the dabs of paint squeezed from tubes on brushes abloom
To paint a mantle cloak, donned each Spring, as a many-colored costume
To blot out Winter's chills, before coat is shed in Summer's cauldron spume...

Seascape Flowing Through No Time
Fast running waves,
each crest sweating moonlight.
Crushed pebble beach
shape-shifting
pinioning froth to night sky
A saline wind dunks,
strands of spume latched to flotsam,
all conjured out of a fleeting.
I recall now
that I was not there to record all this.
I was elsewhere writing it down.
I hear a mechanical corrosion
of ‘since’ and ‘when’ and ‘then.’...

Seven Days a Week
I scratch symbols out of a matted beard.
Fingertips as smooth as wave-worn pebbles
rattle on an invisible shoreline,
the sound is a kind of speech
a language that only spume and spray understand.
Seven days a week I listen;
rarely does the water translate
any intelligible meaning.
Nevertheless images rise
like dead half-eaten fish.
I pick at the bones and wish
for more impossible things....

Ocean's Song
Whispers drowned by ocean's sound
seagulls flying, space abound,
oceanic scent within the air
dance of waves in all its flair.
Somnambulant shadows
under moonlit skies
castaway's drunken delirium
misty morning's stare sunrise.
Silent murmurs,
majestic surrounding never ending,
green-blue's, white spume.
beautiful and powerful language.
Silence, don't say a word,
I need to hear the ocean's song....

Pompeii
Pompeii
Amid ashes pumice lay
Life in cinders Pompeii in disarray
Vesuvius plumed angry swell
Archeologists unearth deathly knell
Volcanic vomit ample spume
from sunlight golden to darkened gloom
Roman bathing in waters pure
Nimbus of fires blazing coiffure
In 79 AD it's eruption did occur
No time to flee , No time for prayer
For sure a wrong analogy of mine
but this 'Furnace' it froze in time
thank you...

Footprints
Blue sky, honey rays,
sonorous voice of the sea.
Waves silently creep
leaving slight spume, then slowly
draws a breath, taking footprints
into its deepness.

River Boats
moored hulls sink lower
in a rising haze
as ghost ships
they slowly surface
when the sky
finds a patch of clarity
again and again
the vessels slip
in and out of the mist
only to come back painted by
distant seas
farther horizons
that ship deep-sea spume
over anchored hulls
wet ropes creak
rigging rattles
as a foaming fog washes
over prows
unseen gulls call
summoning visions
of whitecaps last seen
in a shipwrecked
china teacup...

A Sea Drenched Mist
Today, all is landscaped by mist.
North, South, East, and West
all are one floating sea.
The hedgerows are reefs,
a familiar tree-line
seems like a gray cliff face.
My own face
feels as if swept over
by a tidal spume.
Now a kitchen radio is turned on,
a truck blasts its air-horn, a child shouts,
and as if the sun were only now roused
to scatter ocean dreams
with a newly rinsed
and blotting wind....

A Date
a spurge, a spruce, a creamy spume
of Moscow mayday tree in bloom,
a crush, a diffidence innate
to youth, a long-awaited date,
a me, excited, nervous, pale,
a garden seat, a nightingale,
a slice of sun in strongest tea
of dusk, a braid, a trendy tee,
a checkered knee-length skirt, a you,
a sigh, another one, a few
looks at the wristwatch, an abyss
of desperation, a… a kiss.
