Hummingbird

I hear the whirrrrrr
  of hummingbird
hovering 'round my head
speaking a language
   I know not,
Much like perhaps
  the speak of life.

Speaking a Foreign Language

When I speak a foreign language
I cross my eyes and dot my teas

   Little wonder I substitute ~
                  ‘Thank you’ for ‘Please’

Greta My Sweet

Greta
Naked and raw
Real, laid bare
Speaking a truth
Not heard here
For thirty years
Greta
I once knew
Another like you
Young and now
I can only weep
For your return
However fleeting
Greta my sweet

all of us free

Tabby cat and I choose a sunny spot
Loving all the warmth and Vitamin D the sun has brought
Both dogs sit under a shady elm tree
All of us opinionated, all of us free

There is a tiny breeze on this November day
We all know we could have our say
But we choose to relax, none speaking a bit
The ambiance enjoyable, relaxation forthwith

Hands

Your hands
in my hands
soft yet firm
moving
squeezing
stroking
insistent
demanding.
Speaking a
half-remembered
language
to which
I instantly respond.

Yet I draw back
at a line,
I can not cross.
Lips mouthing
tender regrets
while our hands
keep talking.

I remember clearly
the ring
in your navel,
but the one
in my pocket
held us apart.

A Future Love's Past

In some future I will voice all that is true,
how I swear your eyes glow, and whisper to me.
But the nonchalance I show, back turned from view,
keeps me a shell, a lock rusted without key.
We waste time – why ? - not speaking a syllable;
frozen by love, hands reach out yet unable.
In the past, all this I have already told:
my brave heart rewarded for being so bold.

Dirty Hands

Dirty hands Caress the evil pumpkin Light shines bright The candle burns from within Attracting the lost souls near The air dissolves Where the ghosts reside They come swiftly Speaking a tongue Foreign to our lives Fear swells inside The darkness harbors my soul And kidnaps my lost being The whirlwind Of the deep dark night Allows fear to thrive

Transcending

In a higher realm, you sent an I love you through the universe.
Without speaking a word as you gazed into my soul.
A gaze that transcended a thousand years.
As we telepathically spoke to our hearts.
Knowing that silence actually spoke through the metamorphosis of dimensions.
Love breaking through a parallel universe.
Into a realm of magical allure, combined with sincerity that transcends.

Passing

cover of clouds
parked cars crowd a narrow street
sidewalk rising and settling
a rough journey in time
leaves turning colors rustle
the neighbor across the street
she says it’s just another day
toddler at her side
a man sits on his porch
greetings offered
as people pass
two eager golden retrievers
behind a tall picket fence bark
speaking a language of their kind
a retired clerk from the police department
rakes leaves, cancer in remission
in the autumn of her life

Words Fail Me

Softly, softly, my love,
do your fingers trace
the fullness of my cheek,
trailing a message,
a whisper, as soft as new down.

I open my lips to speak
sweet words of love,
but hear only, a sigh come forth.
Words fail me.

Deeply, deeply my love,
do your warm eyes
seek the depths of my own,
speaking a message,
a murmur, in silent prose.

I open my lips to speak
sweet words of love,
but hear only, a sigh come forth.
Words fail me.

I yield, I yield, I yield.

She's Never the Same Person

She's never the same person
After she has cried
All the chaos and confusion
That clouds in her mind

She let's them out in anger
She let's them out in fear

The words her mouth can not speak
She let's it out in tears

After all is said and done
All her silent prayers have been heard

She sits alone in silence
Never speaking a single word

In her heart there is nothing left to say
For her soul it has spoke

They formed a puddle in her hands
Now all she does is hope

Enlightenment

It is seeing the stars

in the light of the Sun

in the daytime

It is hearing the heartbeat

of a rose as it blossoms

in the spring

It is smelling the scent

of love in a desert

which has no sign of a bird

in the grave-silent sky

It is speaking a similar language

with butterfly-fish and dolphins

as you explore the enchanted floors

of an ocean in the tropics

It is being at One with everything

that is around you in your soul,

making you to be part of the fabric

of the Universe
