While a Kid Liked Soda Liquid
When I was just a kid,
Liked my sodas liquid;
Was hard to explain
Why they went down drain
God them He did forbid....

At the Playground
E'er so oft, when our friends gather,
We told our tales with eager eyes,
Regale with our silly blather,
Then, have sodas, burgers, and fries....

This Barmaid
This barmaid is generous
she showers every visitor
with hot irresistible smiles
sprays those in attendance
with warm tricky greetings
and drowns every customer
with beers, spirits and sodas
after everything done keenly
she splashes sleepy customers
with inflated credit letters...

Diet Pepsi
Counting calories
Carbs and sugars too!
In food, drinks of all kinds, sodas too!
Diet Pepsi No#1
Taste, texture, vanilla too!
An addiction that says,"Diet Pepsi, I gotta have!
My energizer pick me up through the day
Invigorating!!! Smooth!!!!
What diet can be complete
without Diet Pepsi who can't be beat!...

My Diet
I am on a diet you know
This was my resolution
I stopped eating sweets
And threw away my chips
I’m eating more veggies
I substituted water for sodas
No more fast foods or pastry
I take walks that last hours
I weight myself today
I gained two pounds
I was so depressed
But soda and chips
made me feel better....

Midnight At a 7-Eleven
The chocolate bars are dozing
on their shelves,
the beers and sodas snoring
in the fridge.
The magazines, too, have snuggled up
under their covers for the night.
I tiptoe down the drowsy aisle
and back out the door,
not wanting to disturb the cashier
sitting sleepless behind the counter,
catching up on dreams....

Summer Pastimes
Sipping sodas with my sweetie,
Strolling with him hand in hand,
In the warmth of summer evenings
Listening to our favorite band.
We would linger in the moonlight
Out on the porch at my front door.
When I said, “ I must go in now.”
He would whisper, “One kiss more.”
The sweetest time I’ll ever know
That summer of the long ago.
....

Graveyard Shift Lament
An angel an evening.
To my counter they come.
I take their money.
They take my time.
The genuine cost lying somewhere between.
An angel an evening.
An art museum.
A zoo.
To look but not touch .
To touch but lack feeling.
An angel an evening.
The rat race slowed for sodas and smokes.
A corner of the world a new nightly.
An angel an evening.
Ever changing drama.
Ever changing insight.
All in the guise of minimum wage....

Bio
My New Addiction
For sixteen years I did not drink a can of carbonized soda.
Then I remembered how much I used to like cream soda.
I asked my husband to bring some home from the store.
This was the beginning of my intense sugar addiction.
I now drink two to three cream sodas a day.
Some cream soda cans are worth almost two hundred calories.
The ones I drink are worth two hundred and ninety calories each.
I make no apologies for my addiction; it has sweetened my life....
