Clipped Parrots
With notes shredding ears homicidal,
contestants squawk madly to sidle
despite what they lack
they keep flocking back
to die on American Idol....

Crustacean Confidence
flotsam, jetsam days

                                     unafraid of ocean's sprays

                                          crabs sidle sideways...

He Is More Than Idle
He is more than idle,
Idleness his Idol;
A sloth without bridle,
Along sidewalks sidle …

Now begun to languish
And had been in Anguish;
You can guess: Empty Tank!
His heart this morning sank;
Why won’t it in basement
For a rump on pavement?

A human to demote
Or send to camps remote;
One I would never quote
Nor in election vote....

The Idol For the Idle
When one is mostly idle;
Laziness is one's idol:
Things are stopped in the middle;
To use your time you fiddle...

The idle hears out riddle
But feels not its sharp needle
It's a voice that can tweedle
And - watch it - feet that diddle

He can't hold horse's bridle
And while walking not sidle;
Surely can read the Bible
And try the describable
But won't any verse scribble...

On that point choose to dribble....

Good Morning World
Clouds of grey, scudding by,
Moisture laden, may rain today.
Drifting by the wind doth sigh,
Nothing stirring 'cept the clouds on high.
Dogs come for a stroke and sidle away,
Just sitting and sipping my coffee,
Garden weeded, plants all fed,
Some more bulbs planted in a compost bed.
Sun now warming as dark clouds depart,
Deep blue sky and clouds of white,
Another day in Cyprus starts just right.

Laden In White
thoughts
spiraling
like this snow
in the lash
of december's
bitter breath

downcast eyes
watching
the leaves
gathered
at your grave
laden in white
as they admit
defeat

i struggle
to breathe
in this air
as it kisses
back
with
death's lips

knocked
on my knees
oppressed
memories
waft
in the swells
of eyes
as i lay
a wreath
of emotions
by your side

i sidle
glancing back
as i leave
my only
christmas
spirit
behind...

Emily Dickinson's Tiktok Addiction
I sidle a hand through the ink-bleeding screen,
My automaton heart now a fistful of glee.
For a flickering vigil in Purity's name,
Lie comatose dour mockery of roses and flame!

Only such beauty in idyll remains
Soaring from laughter 'fore its wilted decay,
‘What gorgeous weather we're having these days’ —

I'll be wringing out my bones and hanging them up to dry
once the sun grows far too bashful a rival
for the concrete shadows of a Haptic sky —...
