The Silk Road

Two silk worms from east Shanghai
Had a fight; can’t tell you why
To settle the clash,
A hundred yard dash,
They both ended up in a tie!

Shanghai Carpenter

There was a carpenter in Shanghai
Who hanging from a roof beam so high
When he grabbed a nail,
He let out a yell
Everyone thought he would surely die.

The Rooster

A TALL SHANGHAI ROOSTER
perches on top of a barn
on the farm

It watches the sky
as the sun rises
and wakes up everyone
by letting out a "Cock-a-doodle doo!"

Shanghai

I was living in shang-hai, for all you ever knew.
I stood by paper windows, for which the wind blew.
Glitter came past my ears, like a sing-song in my veins.
Tell me every secret, so I can feel the same.

A Lady from Shanghai

A young lady from Shanghai
was arrested not knowing why.
“Your singing,” officials explained,
“too high; neighbors complained.”
At once she told the government
she had a spheech impediment,
and was only practiching to shing
but denied she shang high.

Late Spring

Spring came late that year
As I looked for love
I searched in England
And in Mexico
Even in old France

Maybe Holland
Or Germany
Shanghai perhaps
Or in Russia

Then it came
Why so far
Look nearby

Next door
I found

Her

Shanghai Monk

I am
in the middle
of meditation
in lotus position
I am
the reason
for you to leave me
Solitude
the big opera of God
a poets reward
You are
the unspoken complicated words
dancing far away
only dust and smoke
(Evolution pollution)
is on the way
and remembers
Big destiny waves
no one here
to see now
what I feel
I am a
Shanghai monk
in orange pajamas
standing in the air

Just For Looking At

A black powder 1868 colt revolver.
Dad’s rusty Buck knife.
A few old Zippo lighters.
Ivory figurines haggled over
with an illicit trader in Shanghai,
same for a two hundred year old
silk rug never trod upon.
A tin box with a broken clasp
containing some things
I cannot now speak of.
A few other keepsakes
that when I look at them
remind me of how I got here,
and how I sometimes
lost my place.

And She Wept Oh So Gently Upon My Shoulder

Bring me dawn, soft
like the first
breath of Spring.
Bring me dusk, brisk
like the Morning’s
fresh cry,
like the Ocean’s
spray caressing my
skin.
Bring me voice,
shaped into a
lullaby,
dampened with cars
and carts from Old
Shanghai.
Bring me time, so we
can be older,
right here, right
now, watching the
seconds fly.
Bring me love, when
my heart grows
colder.

And she wept oh so
gently upon my
shoulder.

Rise Love

Wonderland of wanderers,
Ornament of our world,
Ministers of love 'n lovers,
Embodiment of a gold world,
Nonacceptance to m' folks,

You dare love, you forever lovers!
Only God can hold you folks back,
Ubiquitous ferocious lovers.

Rise Venus, rise Urania, rise Aphrodite!
Ointment for the heart's bruise.
Come Venus, come Urania, come Aphrodite!
Kill this hate, let love live, let women live.

China

I am the Dragon, Long in Chinese
The eternal dragon
China is so complicated
The life of eternity
The power of Confucius
The power of Shanghai
The power of Beijing
The power of the Chinese kingdom
Chinese Kingdom
Bow before the United States envy
Chinese eternity
The power of Shanghai
The power of its brother Korea
China will rise again
Time will tell
Chinese supremacy
With Korean Technology
The life is on
For China to rise again

Debbie-Do Flew

As a girl in my teen I did stray
to the circus I did run away
I wanted to fly
high in the sky
But, Mother wanted me to dance ballet!

Yes Debbie-Do flew upon a trapeze
in sequined tights with a rod 'tween her knees
her hair in a tail
her cleavage unveiled
I was the toast of the town if you please!

As I preened on the platform up high
and powdered my two hands and my thighs
one fine reporter
said I really aughta
Try out for the circus in Shanghai.

My Shrimp Spring Onion Roll

People love at first sight
Friends love me for my first dish
With my shrimp spring onion roll
This consists of medium-sized shrimps
Bacon, beans, ham, egg, cilantro, basil
And lastly it must be onion
Mix and wrap in a Shanghai roll
Deep fry till look brown and taken easy
Serve a bowl right away freely on the table
People are heartless when it's favorite
The dish is taken easy with a smile
Only gone swiftly not more than just few minutes.

THE WAY THINGS GO

   Earth
that turns on itself
being turned inside and out
has focus and shows itself
in luxury and amenities
like in big cities!
Big cities are showcases
they turn and show themselves night and day:
London displays its fog,
Paris its light,
Madrid Moorish beauty
Rio naked architecture...
Shanghai mysterious aura
New York melting pot
Moscow intriguing way
Our world turns being
only a particle of the
general movement of the Cosmos...!

Eating Spaghetti With Chopsticks

The most amazing of culinary tricks would be to eat spaghetti with chopsticks. A pair of chopsticks you will never see if you go to any table in Italy. Marco Polo was not perspicacious enough to see his contribution to western culture’s popularity. When using chopsticks, you won’t get much sauce. Unfortunately, there would be much of a loss. A fork and spoon would appear a strange thing at the dinner table in Shanghai or Beijing.

Cheering multitudes shanghai.
Hearty thanksgivings sphere.
Rainy seasons harbor.
I ntroductory thanksgivings canvas.
Spiritual nativities sail.
Thanksgivings curtain wall of love in the air.
Minor constellations season moon and sun witness.
Annual thanksgivings celebrate giving to all.
Sacred seasons holiday birth of our Savoir our Lord

Chop Suey

It is as American as crackers and cheese.
So many people believe it is Chinese.
Cook meat or shrimp in a wok that is very nice.
Serve it with lots of veggies and white rice.
If you travel to places such as Shanghai or Beijing,
most of the people living there never heard of such a thing
A Chinese restaurant is the only place you will see
this famous dish of great popularity.
You can find it on a menu in either column A or column B
This item is known to all as “Chop Suey”
