Chop Suey

It is as American as crackers and cheese.
So many people believe it is Chinese.
Cook meat or shrimp in a wok that is very nice.
Serve it with lots of veggies and white rice.
If you travel to places such as Shanghai or Beijing,
most of the people living there never heard of such a thing
A Chinese restaurant is the only place you will see
this famous dish of great popularity.
You can find it on a menu in either column A or column B
This item is known to all as “Chop Suey”

And I LOVE IT. Actually, my hubby took me out to a Chinese restaurant last evening and I had some. Wonderful writing, Robert. lainie

Funny. Americans have done that with a lot of "foreign" foods. Pure American concoctions that somehow seem more appealing if we turn them into a foreign staple. Good write - now pass the chop sticks. Joe

This is a fun poem and educational too. It was only in recent years that I learned chop suey was American in origin. I imagine this will be news to some of your readers. Elton
