To set down our phones,
constant companions,
and gaze up at the tree
to watch the robins feed their chicks —
such an exotic request.

The Naked Truth - Sequel Sequel

The naked truth – sequel sequel

When showed up a farmer named Al
Who said as he set down his plow
Your moans are so loud
They’re drawing a crowd
And upsetting my favorite cow

Angel-Carried To the Hereafter

Sucked up and up, of this thought
Which cyclonic blows.
I'll admit, irrefutably
As irretrievably!

More wondrous than the wildest
Imaginative ride.
For what, in truth is set down
On life's other side.

Lending

lending you my wings,
as i was born an angel.
set down i chose to walk apon the earth,
to find one such as thee.
now as i find you flailing,
ill lend you my wings.
rathering that i fall unto hell,
then one so bright and beautiful

Pining Island

far from the ground
a sun faced sea shines on me
no trouble i see but a sail with no wind
to catch no worry in the air
should i swim so long and tire arms
and reach the golden glaze ahead
on islands set down to catch a glimpse
of flocking beasts and friendly herds

Can I get my check?
*clattering of a drawer set down*
I would like to pay my utility here.
Signs up yet?
*beep* "beep* *boop boop*
and all the little things
they say to me go on
and on
and on. Till I am done, and
what is left me dried
out.

The Poet Lives Long

THE POET LIVES LONG BUT OBSERVES,
ILL EQUIPPED FOR STATING GRACE-
IN GRACELESSNESS CONCEDES HER IGNORANCE.
OF ALL THAT PASSES EYES UNSEEN,
HERE THE POET LIVES FOR THESE-
THESE GRACEFUL, AWKWARD BLUNDERS MANIFEST.
SHE TAKES WITH NO THING GIVEN BACK,
EYES SET DOWN UPON A WORLD-
ONE NEVER CEASING TO AMAZE HER NOW.

Yards

While I was at work my yards were busy
a nameless, white flower plucked
from my front garden
lay on the brick shelf by the gate
wrapped in cream silk
its stem inserted
into a (dry) plastic flower tube

A gift set down in forgetfulness
or just discarded

While out the back a soft touch indoor football
orange against the fake grass
lost and over wall booted

You Have To Come Back

rain has gone far away
rain will come very soon
in the cradle of nature

Sun has set down
Sun will rise very soon
on the breast of sky

moon has covered its face
moon will discover itself very soon
in womb of night dark

you've gone, gone far away
tearing the nexus of my love
you have to come back very soon
in my enamorred inn of heart

Milestone

A yell and a cheer!
Our first egg is here!
The gift from our new hens,
The first of the year.
And Anna came running,
The egg in her hand
as if `twere a diamond
From some distant land.
We all gathered close
As she softly set down
The first home-grown
Of a soft, creamy brown.
And from all the interest
We gave that egg then,
You'd think we had laid it
Instead of the hen!

POEM 48 TIME ON THE BEACH

SO LET US SET DOWN BY THE SHORE

& LET MY MEMORIES ROLL AWAY IT

WAS THEN I REMEMBERED MY LOVE

OF YESTERDAY.

THERE WAS PEOPLE STANDING THERE

I HAVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE AS THEY

WALK AWAY PLAYING & WAVING GOOD BY

IT WAS THAN I FELT TEARS COME FALLING

DOWN FROM MY EYES.

Just Right Tonight

the music is just right tonight
listening to cowboys sing the blues
and all the while I'm dancing with him
I remember 'bout dancing with you

as I set down another long neck
and take a cowboy's hand
the steel guitar is whining
lights reflecting on the bandstand

the wood floor is real crowded
and we give it just one more go
as he wraps his arms around me
it's not the cowboy that I know

I Can Only Smile

In a certain time
Rise you
And down
As a result
The world is black
And white

World itself adjust
In that
Everything is adjusted
In order to
Rise they
And down

To me the certain time
Is obviously uncertain
When you rise
I set down
Sometimes stagnant
Silent and hidden

Hasty time insists
And its world is
Angry with me
I am called mad
Look around you and
I can only smile

Wondrous cross*… bearing the Saviour …life for me! Cross of life… Christ’s redemption-grant …great triumph! With God’s love… cross I do carry …for His name!

Cat Who Was a Clown

Cat Who Was a Clown

My cat thought he was a clown
And every time I did set down
He always likes to take his nose
And rub it softly against my toes.

When he will rub against my feet
That means it is time to eat;
For food, has learned how to beg
By rubbing against my leg.

One more thought to me did occur
If I say pretty please will he purr;
Then he said it was time for bed
But first he wanted to be fed.

The Box of Death

The long wooden box
Was gently set down
As dirt was packed from the earth
To fill up the earth

Black coats and umbrellas
Huddled together under the rain
Watched on in silence
Not a word to be uttered

I, in their midst
Looked up but couldn't see
Clenching my fist
I knew I had to stay strong

But, a trickle of water
Found its way out of my eyes
And rolling gently down my face
Fell on top of the long wooden box

Listen to poem:
It broke her heart
when Franco died
he’d been her soul mate
wed over fifty years
he’d been her life

For her Franco
she had a ritual
lit a candle every night
so he would know
how much she missed him

Today would be a special day
she felt it when she closed her eyes
wouldn’t be lighting any candle
she took her one last breath
set down the path to join her Franco

Another Adopted Son

His name is Christopher
He is the child of my recently deceased best friend
Without his dad alive
He couldn't find a beginning or an end

He stayed with me
Night after night
Finally he asked to live here
Because my family love isn't a fight

I love him as my own
Just as all my others
There's nothing more hurtful
Than absent Mothers

We set down the rules
Some simple goals to achieve
The death of Dan is real
But we will start new, happy memories

Premium Member When I Was a Pepperoni Pizza

I got the chills
The shivers
The shakes
My cheese chattered
I crossed my pepperoni
Frozen like a popsicle

I hid myself in the far back
of the icy dungeon under a hamburger pizza
How about a pizza? A giant asked.
The door opened.
The giant reached in and plucked me out

I was set down on a wire rack in a warm sauna
A wonderful warm sauna.
A door slammed
It got really dark.
Dark as the freezer, but warmer.

I began to smile.
Warming up all over....

Lord and Master

Lord and master that I am,the
Duke of all that runs and swims,
I have you at my beck and call,
From summer, winter, through to

Fall, there’s no deceiving me on
Throne, you know my spies
Are in your home…and when
The subtle question’s asked, of

Which great loyalty were you
Tasked, to run or jump or fight
Our foe? The answer quick you’d
Better know, when tucking bed at

End of glow…set down its fluff on
Face to play, ok I’ll sleep! …but not
For you; after all I’m only two
