The Poet Lives Long

THE POET LIVES LONG BUT OBSERVES,
ILL EQUIPPED FOR STATING GRACE-
IN GRACELESSNESS CONCEDES HER IGNORANCE.
OF ALL THAT PASSES EYES UNSEEN,
HERE THE POET LIVES FOR THESE-
THESE GRACEFUL, AWKWARD BLUNDERS MANIFEST.
SHE TAKES WITH NO THING GIVEN BACK,
EYES SET DOWN UPON A WORLD-
ONE NEVER CEASING TO AMAZE HER NOW.

Made me stop, made me smile, made me think for awhile. You've shown your perfect grasp about the inner workings of the mind and heart of a poet. The world, and more beyond it, should always amaze. The day it stops doing so, the pen stops writing too...Love your write! Welcome to Poetry Soup! :) Kim

Kim - wow, thanks so much for the kind words. You are correct, the world must always dazzle the poet, even if it's only rhinestones. Thank you for reading. ~TH~
