Premium Member Superficial Love
She pooh-poohed his smallish gift.
He looked glum and she looked miffed.
	No diamond in sight,
	She did not delight.
Her love for him was set adrift....

I awoke
Alone
In a crowded field
Budding potential
Growing amidst
Disillusionment.
Tossed into the air
Stung by the edges
Of chaffs collusion
Separated
From all connection
To whatever was
Set adrift
On what is

After Noon
A caravan of pink and white vapor
Saunters northeasterly
Across a cerulean forever

Green boughs below
Bow as it passes
Lake sky mirrors

As July arrives

And June is set adrift

For another year

This entire afternoon...

Guarded
I'm lost in a riddle of answers.
They never seem to find my prayers.
Drowning in an ocean of conclusions,
my ship set adrift somewhere.
Basking in the light of delusion,
the world gets lost in there.
Grounded in thoughts
that I get to choose when.
To give back the light
 I was once given....

Premium Member Paper Absolution
all my cares and carelessness
               penned upon a paper plea
                 folded in floating prayer
and set adrift with a spark
               sorrowful secrets martyred
on a pyre of choices made
           …embers sinking with lost love

A Walk Into Oblivion
I'd hoped the sea remembered me,
accepting me so easily,
as evening peaks and
the moon draws out the tide.

She wrapped me in her icy shift,
eyes closed shut I'm set adrift,
and through the wash
I'm tossed with every stride.

Caught within her brackish flow
my beating heart begins to slow,
Katrina's won,
the pain will now subside....

Myself, I Bring
Living in a rented room
  my thoughts became my own

Living in a rented room
  my borrowed soul was owned

Living in a rented room
  the fog began to lift

Living in a rented room
  my spirit set adrift

Living in a rented room
  the moment now the thing

Living in a rented room
  —to me, myself I bring

Emprovise
to empathise
To see the world through poets eyes
To feel surprise
To feel the world through poets sighs
To waken to a clearer way to see
The little hidden touches of a brush
highlighting what was missed in all the rush
Perhaps a glint of hidden joy
In eyes of what was once a little boy
Or just a telehug to ease a rift
Re anchoring another set adrift
To empathise...

Adrift
Silence lingers above my head
The man that's lost at sea; afloat
And underneath are fish not fed
All staring at my makeshift boat

I never knew exactly how
A piece of wood could feel so safe
For not even the toughest bow
Has saved me from this constant strafe

I guess I must be grateful, then
For still to live is such a gift
Yet Sea has claimed the roughest men
And I'm a weak one set adrift...

Premium Member Illusions of Delusion
Listen to poem:
horizons blurred in a foreign haze
the fiber of life disintegrated
hope frazzled and denied
trust fragile in the wind
set adrift on a sea of delusion
the nightmare losing sight of morning
spun mixed emotions of solidarity
elusive death caught in a vortex

Premium Member The Mean Side of Jealousy
Jealousy, a demanding malady,
It will destroy the best relationship
And, it offers no simple remedy,
While undermining a companionship.
Loss of trust will destroy a partnership
It will certainly cause a painful rift,
More destructive than simply being miffed
Before two hearts were lovingly entwined,
But now they are suddenly set adrift
Because jealousy simply cannot bind.

Short shadows stretched by a sinking sun,
darkness denotes the day is done.

And Sol slips over the edge of the Earth
tethered to oblivion,
and yet, shackled to Dawn.

Twilight morphs into Dusk, summoning night,
as a canopy of twinkling stars shine.
And the moon imbues a phantom sun's light
with magic, where wishes and dreams entwine.

Lost
Lost Set adrift The current swift My needs are lost at sea The horizon’s plane I’m near insane There’s a storm in store for me The driving rains The crashing waves The wind rips my sun-scorched skin I was battered and bruised And deathly confused When a love raft pulled me in Your love had pulled me in Our love had just begun When the riptide pulled us out Apart Away Alone © 2012 Jeffrey Spencer

Lighthouse
I felt as though I was all alone
set adrift on a lonely sea.
I had to learned to steer my boat
and to sail ever so cautiously.
Then one day I came to learn
I had been deaf to a gentle cry,
through the fog I finally heard
you softly calling to me
sweeter than a lover's lie.

Come to me, come to me,
I followed your voice
like a hunter on a scent.
I'm coming, I'm coming
please don't let me forget.

And so I landed near my lighthouse,
you brought me safely to shore....
