Feathery Blur
Shrubs squat still in serried clusters

as quails burst in a blur of feathers!...

Ghostly Sentinels
I sat upon a weathered rock

And looked across the fells,

Emerging from the morning cloud

Like ghostly sentinels.

The rising sun revealing all

In perfect clarity,

A wonderland of serried peaks

Appeared in front of me....

October's Recourse
Flush with falling leaves of rust,
I stand balanced among the dampness of night;
Glittering skies alighting my path.

A chilled repetitive moan of wind
catches the serried strands of my hair,
while frost lightly tickles my frozen face.

The celestial crescent adorning October
surrounds me in a quilted patch of darkness as
the harshness of Winter confrontation draws near....

Adoritrix
Serried spirits walk on the wind

Paratrooper raindrops collecting courage before descent

Drunk off your paints, tasting life in your landscape

Heart ablaze, my fantasies have been conquered

Village pillaged by an army of one, glimmer of my eye tucked in by evening sun

Assigned to your omphalos, war drums curvet

At your touch, I evaporate into song

Polyphonic acme
...

Days of Sun and Azure Skies
Days of sun and azure skies
Blissful hours out on the fell.
Boundless joy, heading high
As nature casts her magic spell.

Oh such beauty there I saw,
Mighty fells, serried peaks.
How I want for nothing more,
My soul, it heard the mountains speak.

Atop the fell, free as a bird
The world now far below my feet.
Filled with awe, my spirit stirred
Was ever there a land so sweet....

Discoveries
DISCOVERIES

Along a summer street crammed to bursting point
By an indifference of brick walls -
I come across a suddenness of dandelions
On a bulding site after the rain falls.

A sea beach filled by desertion
And rock pools half-buried,
With a rusty shell casing abandoned
In retreat by ranks serried.

Rain and sea offer nothing
New, merely reveal near-forgotten
Implants in the stream of time sodden ....

Serried Rows of Crosses
The landscape changed
From peace to bloody war
A hellish muddy landscape
Those men had to endure

And when war was ended
The living had moved on
The dead remained on parade
To forever guard the Somme

The landscape changed
From bloody war to peace
A sombre mark of the passing
Of those who fell before the cease

Serried ranks of white crosses
Marking those who stayed
To be forever remembered
These fallen comrades on parade...
