Winter's Doorstep
Bleak
Gray day,
Biting breeze
Offers portent
And tumbles autumn’s harvest of sere leaves
To winter’s foreboding, icebound doorstep:
Stacked, stands cordwood,
Shovels wait,
First snow
Looms....

We long in the dark
Full of passion words of love
Fiftytwo years long.

So long time has passed
But love has never been sere.
Yet as the first time.

We are now aged,
The body youth has now gone.
But we still desire.

Autumn Relief
The evil teeth of summer have chewed
me and raked me and made my skin sere
Sleepless nights have sucked my soul
and caused me many a nighttime tear

Then one day I feel it, a faint puff of air
Fall is threaded through it like a fantasy
Soon the leaves will change to russet
We will enjoy wonderful Autumn ecstasy...

An Ode To Rainfall
A-n ode to rainfall
L-ets you wait for sunshine;
E-ighth November morn,
X-factor is positive mind.

A-n ode to rainfall
G-ives you time not to cry;
U-sing it to turn thirsty river
I-nto blessings that never run dry.
L-et the heavy downpour
L-and in every sere soul;
O-pen your life to water,
N-otice an ode to rainfall....

Your Beauty
I wait for the flower’s bloom,
Underneath the lonely sky.
I yearn to see it grow,
But dread to see it die.

Its profile captures me,
For its presence is so mere.
Its color dazzled me,
But I’d hate to see it sere.

Have no fear, I’m your friend,
Whom the Master has sent.
To nurture and to care for you,
For your beauty makes me content....

Woman At a Stop
Woman at a stop.

She stood at the stop
Cracking knees, stooping shoulders
Mothball odors
Medicine pores,
Disparate thoughts, waves of empty,
Numb buzzing nothingness
Imbibing vibrations of motorists,
Whirring, whizzing by
Crumpled yellow sere sheaves blow
By the venous sheer skin, her feet
Swollen out of her shoes
She waits,
For the bus....

Autumn Fire
vivid jade and frolicsome
when summer zephyrs eddy near,
the leaf enfeebles during harvest
so its glow, like emerald,
drains to gaudy saffron hue:
a single, sere lick of flame
	combusting autumn into fire
‘til winter’s hoar grows imminent
and earthward flutters fragile leaf,
	extinguished.

Smile gone, the yellow orb wrapped in haze
  leaves sidewalks and lawns lonelier
Darkness o'erspreads afternoon's tin crown
  Her realm overmatched
    she collapses into

the grim face of night --
stars, squinting cold points in the sky
the moon's paint scraped off the horizon
  a Wind that raises goosebumps

The lock of auburn hair flipping one way
then another over his smooth forehead
bearing the proud visage of youth undaunted
      by vistas only dimly perceived…

His portfolio cuts into his side at
the sweet whistle of the train
a train that will take him away ~
away from those sere plains o'er which
         cattle and slaughterers yet rumble

Days Deprived
Displays deepest mind

And a resolute that endeavor

Yet memories were treacherous and sere

Sound of silence startled ear

Disconsolate linger chasten'd more fair

Eclipsing taunting the innocent air

Pale rigid faces leave hollow empty traces

Retrace chains endure

Inspite of time revealed

Vague imprinted dreams

Eternal fame of rushing wings

Dispossess on the waters, cease...

Autumn Scene
Slate clouds stretch low
over urban rooftops,
sun’s hopeful warmth
vanquished:

	man with a limp
	pauses.
	his weary eyes,
	wary,
	survey that sky,
	grimy gangling
	fingers
	fidget
	buttons,
	wind biting through
	plaid jacket’s
	worn fabric;
	on, he hobbles
	behind
	shopping cart,
	cluttered and dull,
	left front wheel
	shimmying,

sere, dun leaves
and discarded wrappers
tumble, rustle
alongside
in the gutter....

Adverse
As the spring sprang out
The north gone south
Yeah, without no doubt
Indeed it's a parched mouth

The vessel of a living has gone sere
Not of the scorching planet
Moment of a produced scare
Mimicing an outburst of an angry Janet

Still in game but so lame
Hands re withered to cover shame
Nothing to do than to wait for late fate
Like a man waiting a late date......
On a mapless ocean i sail thy boat
In a shallow liquid i seem to float
The eclipse of thy life is now!...

The World Is Too Much For Us
Once you spoke to me in nightmares
You speak to me in dreams
We fly the above the cavernous
Streams hills and rills, echo screams

Cool mirage water did not slake
We die before we wake
All the searing pain did not sere

Saxifrage has burst through
Souls cleft by crags, pain left us here
Hot copper skies, below bodies left in the dust
When lovers leap to love and love leaps to lust,

Into chaos fragile souls hurled
We, we were never sated with the world,
It was too much for us....
