Break Time
The fall semester is now the past,
And Christmas break has come at last.
This little time will fly so fast,
Leaving students all aghast....

My Job
Hired as a lab assistant to
do minor things. Never thought this
job could be so boring. It's
not as fun as it was
last semester. We
always had a
crowd, but not
any
more....

Premium Member Studying Abroad - a 'Groaner'
My 20-year-old-son told me
he had chosen a new 'Study Abroad' program for next semester

  He left me wondering ~
What was wrong with the broad he'd been studying this past semester?

                            (Groaning yet?)...

Spring Semester
I found my place there.
To lie in despair.
I dream of elsewhere.
I see you tie your hair.
Or that dress you wear.
We'll never be a pair.
I would never dare.
This is only fair.
This feeling seems to tear.
I wonder why I care.
Here there is only air,
just enough to bare....

Student's Prayer Request
divine healing
a single prayer request
catches my eye

hushed hallelujah
she types the final paper
of the semester

Note: Two senryu in response to a prayer request of one of my Twitter followers who is sick and needs the strength to write her final paper of the semester....

A New Year, a New Me
2015 will come with many changes.
Not only is it my last semester of high school,
But my last time being a kid.
In August of 2015 I will head to college.
Six hours away,
leaving my friends and family.
when I get there I hope to change one thing about me,
My work ethic.
On and off the field I will strive for greatness.
Inside and outside of the classroom I am determined to find success.
I will do whatever it takes.
A new year,
A new me....

Premium Member Walking Out of Class In 6th Grade
A student walks out of class in sixth grade.
There are no consequences, lots of understanding.
Empathy galore.
There is no apology to teacher or the class.

Second student walks out.
Same scenario.
Third and fourth students walk out together.
No consequences.
They get to eat lunch with the superintendent.
Everyone tries to understand them.

This was week two of school.
By the end of the first semester half the class is walking out daily.
We have no idea why....

I'M Going Home
WHERE DO YOU STUDY?
IN A PLACE FAR FROM YOUR HOME?
YEAH, WE'RE ON THE SAME FLIGHT
AND I MISS THEM, MY FAMILY MORE THAN EVER

ARE YOU FEELING EXCITED WHEN THE SEMESTER IS ENDING?
BECAUSE AT LAST YOU CAN SEE THEM AGAIN
YEAH, I FELT THAT TOO
BECAUSE I LONG TO SEE THEM EVERY MINUTE, EVERY DAY

BUT WHEN IT'S APPROACHING
THE WORLD SEEMS TO GIVE YOU ALL THE PROBLEM
TO STOP YOU WANT TO GO HOME
YEAH, I'M WITH YOU
BUT YEAH! WE'RE GOING HOME AND THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS...

Stubborn
My intention is to write some prose
Why it comes out poems, nobody knows
I struggle, wiggle, leave me alone
As I sit happily writing a poem

Words are created and suddenly rhyme
I hardly revise them – I’ve not the time
Give up the idea of writing a book?
I feel I’m caught by a crook and a hook

Following rules as the semester unfolds
Smothers my brain; puts creating on hold
When I find a second that isn’t filled
I’ll write a poem, ‘cause I’m strongly self-willed!...
