Ocean View

It was not a night for work
the moon was at the full
high over the sea
erotic and disturbing
l could hear the gypsy singer in the tavern below
self assured as usual she had a slightly distant air about her !

Premium Member Astronomy and Astrology Went For a Walk

Sweet Astrology and Self-Assured Astronomy went for a little walk.
Astronomy said “Glad we can have this little self-respecting talk.”
Astrology sighed.
Astronomy tried.
To self-promote his science, pontificating during every squawk.

Premium Member My Inner Child Is Sitting On My Knee

My inner child is sitting on my knee
most of the time
directing the rest of us

not prissy but confident
self-assured, slightly sexy
ready to take anyone down who is not ready to play

One of my personalities is arguing with her now.
The rest of us smirk.
She always wins

My Parents Taught Me To Be

My parents brought me up to be
Self-aware,
Self-assured,
Self-motivated,
So I could live with myself,
And choose friends who make me smile.

They did not bring me up to be
Self-centred,
Self-serving,
Self-promoting
So I could live in self denial,
And choose friends that are vile.

Pages Turn

young and strong
confident, knowing, growing
fearless, self assured
conquered much
knowledgeable
vibrant
I was beautiful

pages turned
years pass

not so young, not so strong
confident, knowing, still growing
fearless, self assured
conquering much
knowledgeable
vibrant
still beautiful

List It

Smokey stop pell,

hovering on the station sail,

policy of the ram hitting in a jam in their whole man-
the self assured meander un~spell.

Yes, yes it's a 2000 time tell,

it's so sojourned now we can't expel-

that leader had his mound,

and his following the overt round,

but we had face that was sound?

What is the mettle now?

Premium Member Crappy Politicians

I’m thinking we’re on a downhill slide
With self-aggrandizing politicians now,
Bloviating so self-assured and snide
Paying no attention to their campaign vow.
With an eye on their big monied donors,
They think little of their constituencies
Sometimes I think they are really stoners,
And need more prayer time on their knees.

Premium Member A Poet's Sincere Surmise

       silent, sparkling, saturating,silver
       streaked-sky...

       sleeping, sonneteers,in states of
       sky-castles snore...

       sanguine, self-assured,and so sunset-sure...

       something supremely splendid to scribe...

softly, sylvan on some soul's snuggly, splendorous, spirit...

Passin

light bright damn near white
your wavy hair your pride
been educated by the best
so self-assured inside

you party with the socialites
vacation with the best
accepted, 'least, by liberal whites
passed all the social tests

though, you don't sweep their bathroom floors
please don't get it confused
when slurs are flung behind closed doors
YOU still a ni**a, too

Premium Member sassy brassy classy cat

I put hot pink pajamas on my cat Scat.
She twists her tail, for she knows where she’s at
A sassy, brassy, classy, ritzy, ditzy, diamond cat.
worth all the trouble, said my cousin Pat.

For she is smug and self-assured, a joyful cat.
I hear her coming now, with her pitter pat.
Dressed in her fancy pajamas, my cat, Scat.
Uh-oh, I think what she is carrying is a live rat!

Premium Member Arrogant Caterpillar

Arrogant caterpillar
Thinking you are all of that.
We have a committee meeting.
You think you are phat!

What’s to be done? Your head is so big.
I know said the chairman.
Took a hammer and
Bam! Caterpillar arrogance smashed in all directions.

Committee meetings ran smoothly
For a few months
Then grasshopper started getting too self-assured.
Bam! I guess you can guess the rest.

Premium Member What is She Who is she

What is she?
Who is she?
Does she have a name?

I heard…
I heard….
I heard.

It was the first flapper our small town had ever seen.
Not a she yet.
No one cared about her.
We just wanted to flash looks and gossip.

this newcomer did not care.
a flapper is self-confident.
pleasing no one but herself.
beautiful look on this self-assured woman
who needed no one's approval but her own.

Premium Member Self Assured Blue Moon

Blue moon paints herself confidently
With power and magic as you can see
She feels invincible, and puts it on paper
Then paints it up, as if it is a self-actualization caper

We see what she is doing, and we smile at her
Her paintings are incredible, but of course, quite pure.
Blue moon is putting herself in poems and stories too
We love her attitude, her assuredness and the fact she is blue.

Winners Do What They Choose To Do

Don’t get drawn into the battle that’s not yours,
some people have issues, they’re soothing their sores,
they trigger reactions when you should be bored,
and off you go digging removing the floors.

Deep down into negative where there’s no reward
you don’t need to be cocky just be self assured,
their battle’s their battle an ongoing war,
recognise their inner conflict and choose to ignore.

I Did Not Know I Was So Hot

Looking back from a position of safety,
One sees now, judgements that were hasty,
About loves that could have been bestowed,
If one had been more self-assured.

Maybe for the best, maybe not,
I did not know I was so hot,
I see some of them around,
Do I want to go another round?

Maybe, maybe not,
As their friendship means a lot,
Of one thing I am sure,
I now have some new memories to treasure.

A stranger
Odd

Quirky
Unwelcome
Ignored
Once extended a courtesy
Cannot do enough
For her new friend
Stranger no more
Odd means unique
Sad is empathetic
Quirky translates to self-assured.
Unwelcome is ignored.
Best friends are born!

Premium Member The Heights

Onto that pillow,
she fell asleep standing up;
Constellations shone;
That parallel universe,
she found her way out of it;

Knowing how to fly
led to seizing every chance;
Dreams woke self assured;
Lost to the spell of the heights,
nothing could call her back down;

Rich reality
took the place of fantasy;
Clear sight in blurred lines;
No need for a far off land,
stars fall through tangible clouds.

Premium Member Successful Shanita

Shanita’s face was a map of confidence and strength.
At seventeen, she exuded a majestic feeling, without any haughtiness.
I knew she would master any avenue or occupation that appealed.
Years later I ran into Shanita once again.
Her self-assured face told me immediately …..
She was successful in every area of her life.
She did not have to say it; I could see it in her walk.
And the way she greeted everyone with respect.
