Crappy Politicians

I’m thinking we’re on a downhill slide
With self-aggrandizing politicians now,
Bloviating so self-assured and snide
Paying no attention to their campaign vow.
With an eye on their big monied donors,
They think little of their constituencies
Sometimes I think they are really stoners,
And need more prayer time on their knees.

I could not agree with you more Milton! I am ashamed of most of our leaders for the very reasons that you perfectly describe in your poem!!

Thanks, Mike. Unfortunately, I'm thinking most of them are in it for the money and not for helping to make the world a better place.

It is sad that they trade integrity for "With an eye on their big monied donors,"

Indeed. When I hear of one of them voluntarily retiring, I almost automatically think they've made enough money to enjoy the rest of their lives. That is sad!!! Is that public service now?

as the smallest little piggy said "I just hope there's some left for me"...or to paraphrase "can big government create a problem so big that they can't fix it??"

Oh, I think they very well can, John. Thanks for your comment.

Remember 'too big to fail.' More and more, I think that the government is too big, to unwieldy, to succeed. :) gw

That is so true, Gershon. But sometimes I think they have enough people to run it fairly efficiently....OMG, did I say that?????

Governors should recall any Member of Congress who votes the Party line rather than the best interests of their constituency!

Members of Congress are elected by their constituencies. As far as I know, Governors do not have the authority to recall a MOC.

It's definitely a worldwide problem Milton, we too have our share of buffoons who soon forget the promises they made in their campaigns. Tom

I think it's a widespread problem, Tom. And I don't know how to remedy it. I do know term limits would help. If they don't vote the way they said they would when elected, then they should be barred from running for a second...third...or tenth term!

Happy to see you are still alive, Tom! We were beginning to wonder if those antibiotics worked!
