Sci-fi transports you to a place,
Unrestricted by time & space,
Leaves you cool, collected & calm;
As genres go, it be the bomb.

Sci Fi Banter

Unlike your Mr Asimov
Whom I hear likes Rachmaninoff

  My limericks are clean
the point clear to be seen

Perhaps he drinks too much Smirnoff!

I’m on my way there
The land of television
Seeing action shows

Premium Member Systemic Lawlessness - Sci-Fi

Mars flew out of orbit
Venus got rid of her gas
     Mercury sped past Pluto
     Jupiter shrunk her mass

     Saturn shed all her rings
     Neptune's water froze
     Uranus just flailed away
     Pluto's dog lost its nose

     The Solar System was freaking
     The 'Laws of Physics' creaking

Ache

I ache to dance upon a beam of light,
taken to remarkable worlds in flight,
to places no human has ever been,
systems where life is lush and air, thin.

Where Sci-Fi and fantasies bloom into reality,
and life is blatant in it's duality,
hearing the symphony of the universe,
but undeniably, I am stuck here on Earth.

Alien Whore

I went in and Sioja was ready for me. Before we started I introduced myself and put the cash on the table. Pay before enjoying the goods. Sioja was orange skinned and had purple hair. It was all natural as was the third eye in the middle of her forehead. This was brilliant green and her normal eyes were dark brown. Her looks gave a startling contrast. Welcome after the strong blue sky and light brown desert.

He Claims Not To Be a Geek

He claims not to be a geek,
Although it has been heard,
That he’s in the science clique.

He denies that he’s a nerd,
But if you quickly check,
His Sci-Fi interest is inferred.

He says he doesn’t like “Star Trek”,
But if you block the TV set,
He’ll often crane his neck.

He says he’s not a dweeb and yet,
Ask him about his PhD,
He’ll know the answer you can bet.

If he’d stop denying it he’d see,
I’m just as big a geek as he!

Planets Before Us

Like a scene
       from
       an old sci-fi flic
Planers loom before our eyes
     Some with rings
  Some hot and red
We know that we
    are but
  a small part of the
universe
   But we still dare
to raise our small flags
bravely
In the cosmic wind
    There are planets looming
before us
    We watch and hope
that their inhabitants
   are from an ancient
civilization
   Far kinder than
our own

Pen Journeys

Continuum of creative action
Inspired by views of space quarries
Create a strong magnetic attraction
Of the thinkers of far-out stories.

And they’re opposites in the cortex
But companions in a what-if vortex,
Spinning worlds of imaginations
For present and future generations.

A sci-fi teller can look to the stars
And send your mind on fictitious trips;
Beyond moons, or rings or canals on Mars
And the finite reach of SpaceX ships.

Here To Stay

you like all the country songs
ballads that twang a bit
I like music from the seventies
and a few more recent hits

you like all the deep, deep reads
I prefer less intense
ok, maybe some thrillers
where the heroine always wins

you like all those space flicks
and sci-fi on TV
I like more of a drama
or chick-flicks are easy to see

but we like reading each other
and coffee the same way
and sometimes I may get wacky
but I hope you're here to stay

The Gapes of Rathbone

Basil in your Soup?
Or Basil in a cheap 1960's Soviet Sci-Fi,
Gaping at the screen,
As missiles destroy space stations,
Oh, MY!

Oh, for 15 seconds of gaping,
He becomes the star,
Of that Space Station...
To bad movie buffs,
An elation

Plan Nine From Outer Space,
Saucers on a string,
Navy Vs the Night Monster...
Now that's the real thing!!

Movies made from pocket change
Forever imprinted on our minds,
When it comes to bad films,
There are all kinds!

75 Years

HEY HEY HEY
No more fears
How long was I out there
Try 75 years.
Drifting alone
In the depths of space
Far from earth
And the human race.
Your lucky to be here
To tell you the truth
Cos I ain't joking
Cos this ain't no spoof.
The ship that found you
Way out there
Could have passed you bye
Without a care.
Alot has changed
Since you've been gone
For the material of time
You've been torn.
So it's welcome back
I could say
For the dawn of your new life
It starts today.

Book of Fiction

Trying to overcome the enemy
Society calls celebrity
Feeding on social media
Regurgitating stupidity & salvia

Driving off the cliff of existentialism
Crashing head first into television
Starry eyed & zombiefied
Trapped in a book of sci-fi

Howling at the moon
Again the morning comes too soon
Turning into a beast
When my heart retreats

Drowning in a pool of dreams
Swimming in a sea of moon beams
Picking stars from across the sky
Before I sleep the wind sings me a lullaby.
