Saccharine Sadness

Susie ate her sugarless serving with a slow spoon
Soggy sobs serenaded
her seven-year-old sister’s
shocked, sensitive ears
Saccharine sadness sampled simply too soon...

Toast of the Town
in this small village,
we have but one diner
I've sampled their menu before
and have but one complaint
the toast they serve with breakfast
seems like it came from bread
baked at the time of Ramses II...

Burly bright boys

And curly maned misses

Naughty night noise

And candy cane kisses

Sweetly sampled shapes

And soft hungered hips

Nicely nibbled napes

And lollipop lips

Gleeful girlish giggles

And playing footsie all day

Wishful wanton wiggles

And tootsie rolls in the hay...

Souls are saved
Souls are saved
By Michelle Morris
17/01/2021

Clarity of voice
Honesty by choice
Integrity of vision
Faithfulness in decisions

Hunger for righteousness
Angelic kindliness
Humanity is guided
Godliness finds us

Leading by example
Heaven is sampled
Humanity behaves
Souls are saved

Destiny Found
Desire ignited on the dance floor
Encouraged by sweet tasting wine
Shyly sampled by longing lips
Testing the word on my tongue
Identity revealed in love's game
No longer accepting denial
Yet secrecy had to prevail

Fear beyond hope of revival
Outwardly love hid behind smiles
Uttering expected answers on cue
Normality became surreal torment
Duelling with blades of insanity....

I've walked up blueish poles.
Gazed upon beautiful ogres.
Sampled minty auroras.
Vomited the bleeding, unforgiving cold.

I've waltzed a million lily ponds.
To seek a mirage called bliss.
Despite the perils that swirl
Beneath the horizon of all dreams.

I've put my face to fire.
To kiss a blossoms' lips.
But in the end was given a muzzle of sweet needles.
-the haunt of scented ash....

The Words At My Disposal
The words at my disposal
May be simple, even trite;
Yet they suffice to satiate
My rhyming appetite.

I spice them up as best I can
And simmer them with care,
At times attempting recipes
Exotic, if I dare.

Though usually my degustations
Match my aptitude;
I’ve sampled other sustenance,
But rhyme’s my comfort food.

And when I dish it out, I hope
That someone takes a bite.
It may not be gourmet, but hey,
I think it tastes all right....

History Is Horrid, But You Weren'T There
Our history is horrid
yet history is our knowledge
wisdom we have borrowed
priceless today and tomorrow

Horrors seen of every race
in every place at everytime
inherited within a space
a lesson left behind

Examples of what happened there
sampled so we'd be aware
ample failure left too scare
stop us falling down the stairs

History should not offend
you were not there living
History will never end
as it offers new beginning...
