Lizard

A Greek flag torn
Flailing in the warm winds

From the Orthodox dome
Church bells toll

A roadside lizard pauses
By the bins

Turtle

Across a roadside that's fertile
Came this reptile and a hurdle
As he hid in his shell
A nice driver did yell
Just cross the road little turtle

Premium Member Abandoned

faint whimpering in alley.
man's best friend without a friend.
               this is infuriating;
           abandoned roadside

Do Not Pee By the Roadside

Near the park, I screamed at a big chap—
“Do not pee by the roadside, ape-man!”
oh, because I seen fright,
I peed on a shrub a night.
The shrub —JESUS! —was a drunk man.

Premium Member A Roadside Scene

Economic curve
Sliding down
Mushroom-like umbrellas
Springing up
Somewhat blocking the street
Drawing crowds
To buy the cheapest
Goods and wares
Without license or tax

                                  unfolded bluebells chiming -
                                      sweetness seem to fall

Ghost Gums

A whistle stop
for the roadside café
pie and sauce
with peas and coke
please
to chase
down the dust
of the red centre
in the heat haze
the slow moving
ghost gums
come to life.

Heaven scent becomes spring's roadside dressing in lavender allure.
While we, in our wanting way, call it a red bud tree, heart-shaped leaves
with universal appeal discard blossoms to speak of love.

Every Human a Billboard

Every human being a is bill board
On each on the roadside of life
Devils advertise vices attractively
Angels teach virtues with humility
Skeptics deny everything outright
God records responses quietly

Premium Member Crumpled Flower

Crumpled flower by the roadside,
sadly wilted, withered, and dried -
for asking, I beg your pardon:
whilst never cared for in a garden,
were you pretty before you died?
I love you, 'cuz I know you tried.

Premium Member My Childhood

Mercedes may be great
But a mother's back- ride
Can be great and save
A restaurant may be luxurious
But a roadside 's ice- cream
Can be cold and sweet
To me these are some of the
Never to be forgotten love

Yellow Orange

By the roadside I stand;
a yellow ripe orange,
juicy and mouth watering
beckons me to move near
and have a taste.
It is mission impossible,
but my desires rise up
like waves in Black Sea
every moment i see it

Premium Member I watch as time moves on

i yearn to halt time
untill corruption decays-
yet it marches on.

still,by the roadside
watching the move,burdened down,
with rot and decay.

dirty stream flows on
pure water hugs the edges
as the proverb says.

Haiku 4 - Flowering Weed, Dancing Leaf, Life Force

at the roadside
solitary flowering weed
vision of loveliness

leaf falling from the tree
does its last dance in the air
then settles to the ground

in the crack in the concrete
the grass pushes upwards
unstoppable life force

Predator Metaphor

At a spot of roadside, shaded
A predator on the prowl
Concealed itself and waited
for prey to run afoul…

Then, madly, with a dash,
It shot out from the thicket;
Nabbed one prey, in a *flash*
And slapped it with a ticket.

Wonder of Spring

Wonder of Spring.

By the roadside, tiny
vibrant, green as the ocean
bushes grow.

I think they are spun by
the sea breeze
and nourished by April’s sun.

Tomorrow morning
they will be gone and be
the air that I breathe.

Untitled #98 / the Wispy Tails of Clouds

The wispy tails of clouds die,
the sunlight falling on their backs dies,
the trees on the roadside die,
the creatures die, the vultures
circling overhead die,
you die, I die
the whole world dies.
What remains? Nothing remains.
