We Forgot
Our family’s hearth we forgot,
Village well, riverfront, forgot.

Dwelling on idol’s form, figure,
Truth of faith, folklore we forgot.

Trying to hold off teeming tears,
Story’s joyous end we forgot.

Pandemic fears so overwhelmed,
Fixed virus, patient we forgot!

Counting who all contributed,
What all God did oh we forgot!

As kids, we were brought to the beach
at riverfront...sea out of reach.
Our sand was like mud;
neath water, silt crud.
I'd wallow with fun, laugh, and screech!

Now grown, to the seashore I go
where sand is as white as the snow.
I don't go out far
beyond the sandbar
for fear of the silt down below!

Wooded Destinies
The sun-bleached exoskeletons of old dead trees stand like sentries along the towpath riverfront exfoliated and gangling. In a former age they stood tall, grandiose to all passerby’s but they too are dead to recall their once impressive colossi. Eventually these remains will meet their final destinies: to fall-never to rise again- among forgotten progenies; yet many springs have passed since then each sprouted trees, time and again.

Choices
Youth has fled, hair gone gray
Friends and family went away
Enjoy the seasons while I may
Stroll the city in the day.

Music & Art help fill the time
As can books on love and crime
Parks, the ocean, nature walks too
Happiness can come from a riverfront view.

Perhaps I won't see China or Rome
But I can visit friends at home
And talk of days and other places
While I see their smiling faces....

Indy's White River
Indianapolis welcomes you.
Navigate, find your place, sailing through
synthetic waterway just for fun.
Off’ring journeys with anecdotes,
carriages, kayaks and pedal boats
worthwhile way to enjoy snow or sun.

We'll park your vehicle, while you fete
with friends, fam'ly, or special date.
Hire out a gondolier; he can hunt
for local sites, you don't want to miss -
hideaways where you can reminisce,
use Indy’s canal at Riverfront.
