In Retrospect

My childhood was difficult but happy
For there was enough grass
To cover the rocks
And the butterflies always came out
After the rain.

Some say the first lady's a looker
Trumped up by funds that bank book her
Just there for effect
She is a sex object
In retrospect she's a hooker

Spelling Trouble

The smartphones we’ve all come to use
Have features too good to refuse,
   Like autocorrect—
   Though, in retrospect,
This blasting is also a cruise.

In retrospect, I wish I could take back every single regrettable sin!!
But the Sin-Take-Away-er, the Lamb, forgives so I may begin again.

Premium Member A Simpler Time

Was there ever a ‘simpler time?’
I will bet you one whole dime

It only seems so in retrospect ~
when we select what to resurrect

Premium Member Sleep No Less

Oh once again
I stood alone-
In retrospect,
a moment forgotten,
a sleepless night.
In prospect ,
mortality or imortality..
I whispered a prayer
to my soul.

Reflecting On Writing

Writing right is less redundant than righting writes..
But in retrospect…
rewriting writes is relevant to writing right.

Inspired by Caroline Cecile D's comment on writing.

Retrospect

Amber
bright
colorful
days
every
fall
go
home
I
just
keep
loving
more
No

quite
rare
so
timeless
Under
velvet
waves
XLVIII
years
zapped

Something

big ballons are afraid most from the small needles
a nail destroy a wall
willingly go longer fears the
evokes the nightmares of the sweetest sleep
something not seen in retrospect to see the fog

Wait a Second

Walk upon the water

Walk upon the glass

Running to tomorrow

Running from our past

Doesn’t matter where we are

Blink and it will pass

Funny how in retrospect

It happens oh so fast

The Perfect Woman

In retrospect…
The woman most perfect
Would be a lady filled with
Many flaws and imperfections
Impurities and a few…
Insecurities
So together each
We could reach
Into God’s majesties and maturities

Close to the Pre-Raphael sect
All proposals to wed,she did reject;
Her fame excels in retrospect-
A spinster,quiet,pious and chaste
Such talents were, not left to waste.

Premium Member now memory

a small cloud passed white

against a dark blue sky

curved, for eyes like mine,

remembering eyes like yours.

a small cloud igniting

another heart

to burn along its way

that was my yesterday.

Premium Member Chances Lovers Take

Love is heart given
Hoping we receive the same
Chances lovers take

When came the moment
That we held each others heart
Love, made no mistake

One life together
Retrospect and circumspect
Is what we made it

Rinse and Repeat

My mind is politically correct,
but my shoes have no soul.
I have gained some retrospect,
after losing self control.

I’m washing my brain.
A clean slate is what I need.
Reprogramming my frame,
rinse and repeat.

A Meaningful Vacation

I was alone and quite
Retrospect while in solace
Now come back mighty

Anyone searched sparks
Through out and within themselves
Gratefulness abide

Realization came
People around radiates same
Things changed as I am.
Form: Haiku

I Am a Man With a Hat

I am a man with a hat
and in retrospect, im really glad of that.
Because that day it began to rain.
I tried to get out of it, but my try was in vain.

It poured, it lit
it came so fast.
No use to hide
till it stops at last.
sad

Sequence of Events

Previously seen in Opium dreams,
These scenes of Deja-Vu
Future reference balance beams
(The Present misconstrued)
In retrospect, I do reflect,
"Did I see the warning signs?"
Time is met with sheer suspect
As Life rewinds the past unkind

Premium Member Coffee For Dad

I feel sorry, and quite disappointed in myself -- even mad
In retrospect, that I neglected to make coffee for my Dad

He drank coffee every day, so I could've made it with love
I hope he will accept my apology and forgive from above?

Premium Member Wacky Weed

I often find that I'm most usually
motivated and inspired to write poetry
right after a hit from a cigarette of wacky weed.
In retrospect however, the poetry is poorly,
but at that euphoric moment when it's created, it's a masterpiece.
Form: Rhyme

Looking Back

It was a disappointing effort to say the least
But just because it’s over doesn’t mean I’m at peace

In retrospect it seems like a waste of time, Just to come up short

Looking back I probably could have spent more time outside in my gym shorts

Premium Member A Town Like Venice

A place in which to sigh
impressions to recollect
       in lasting retrospect
Colours cry wet-on-wet
images of a sunset.

A valparetto on the sea..
...Vivaldi strings that sing
of Winter & Spring
Summer and Fall on pause..
so many memories to recall
Form: Rhyme

Stagnant

In retrospect I tried to lie,
To hide the thing that lives inside.
I hoped in fact that it had died,
I see now I was wrong.

I slipped and dipped and ducked and dove.
I slept in every crevice cove.
Just like spider webs are wove.
I journeyed ten yrs gone.
