Church Lurch

The wife recited The Golden Rule
As she dashed into her yoga school
Each move is complex
Regardless of sex
But the vicar just swallowed his tool.

Castle of Dreams

Lutes and violins
Gothic dreams, pleasures of sin
Recited poetry
In my chamber of fire
Wine distills lulled memories
She evaporates
Into my mind

Reading Aloud

A sonnet, anecdote,or verse
read by you,
each page of memory followed
with deep hues,
recited in a beautiful tone
I stumble,
the visions stirring on my mind
as you drawl.

Premium Member I Be, I Sing

Russian chastushka folk poem I be,
When recited quite lively think of me.
My message is clear and not hype,
For when I’m sung I’m my type.

On Dad’s 75th, instead of singing,
we recited cadence.
On the video from 9 years prior,
Dad points out Mom’s huge smile
and I point out his.
I see his family line all likewise grinning,
joining in the smile brigade
from heaven’s open window.

reading to ourselves

never speaking verse aloud

do we miss the point

favourite poems to me from her school days by Walter De La Mare 'Off the Ground'.

CREATING POETRY

          When one writes poetry,
          creates rhythmic beauty,
           with significant sounds,
              magnified words,
               silent or spoken,
                read or recited,
          for the enchantment of life...!

Bleeding the Moment

Hearing it again
for the thousandth rhyme,
still within the present
More inherent, more alive,
each reading
more resurgent

Hearing it again
the words still new,
reborn as they’re recited
Bleeding the moment
away from time
—no longer unrequited

HAIKU EKPHRASIS
A short-lived blossom of Spring
like a mayfly that lives for the day,
the pathos of beauty so fleeting,
a few syllables that remain,where
less is more and the image lives
its life forever, in memory.

IMAGIST EKPHRASIS
Wordless lines,indelible impressions
with imagination set free to flower
in the mind’s eye.Images rather than
words remain,colour & space released,
set apart, the extra from the ordinary,
a moment seen and then heard.

From the help spilled forth customary whines
Moaned that their duties were fraught with deadlines
   That it couldn't be worse
If they were in a hearse!
Time to exchange their complaints for complines

Note: 'Complines' are evening prayers traditionally
recited before retiring for the night.

Writing
               a poem
is
thinking
                 out loud
                 secret
                            ideas
imaged
footprints
in virgin
                     snow
a unique
              reflection
of
unsaid
              thoughts
              recited
aloud
           ..framed
for the

Four dead Jesuits,
now confirmed as child
molesters, but when alive
these monsters’ crimes,
were covered in
obfuscation.

And when they passed,
were the Last Rites recited
and are they buried
in sanctified grounds?

May their rest be as
unrestful as their
victims lives and
and the fitful sleep
of their confessors.

EXPRESSIONIST EKPHRASIS
Something so inexpressible,the
challenge of everyday,sparks a
chord so vivid from an uncontrolled
inner drive.This message beyond
memory,the unstated void
distilling the hidden essence of
our yesterday’s buried in today

ACTION PAINTED EKPHRASIS
Spontaneity drips involuntary &
yet deliberate from above.Joyous
expression of inhibitions,inner
experience made free to be.
Painter and creative force united
as one living moment. It and its
residue,to remain, in epigraph.

BEETHOVEN PHRASIS
Dim,dim is my eye, oh had
my fate been joined,oh so
sweet once were the hours.
The morning air plays on my
face.Faewwell,bliss farewell.
Farewell mirth & hilarity the
kiss of a dear maid, her lip
had left.O let the night my
blushes hide,my love without
hope.How can I be blithe&glad.
From Beethoven song titles

TURMOIL

My heart breaks within me-
deep inside I weep;
peace is so elusive my mind
cannot sleep-is love so unreal,
is it out of reach;who will be true
to me and their promise keep;
if I say a prayer,will faith take
a leap-do you have an answer,
to life...fathoms' deep.

Premium Member When Poetry Becomes the Last Witness

I write,
because if I do not write,
I fear I have never been.
I write,
because my body no longer fits
except on the page.

my poetry is not recited.
it is washed in a basin,
hung to dry in the cold,
and smells of unsaid life.

whoever reads and does not weep,
has not understood.
who closes the book and falls silent,
is my brother.

Premium Member First Sight Recited

LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT
We had
Met and conversed
A rapport on first sight
A chance meeting..to a life-times
Delight
that
Summer
Evening,silken
Long..an encounter of
Initiations together
Explored
as Desire
Welled within
Words became a promise
So sublime,a love now,and for
All time

Premium Member Buried Flowers

Cold snow covered all tombs and lanes,
Still he strewed the coffin with sprays
of flowers, to lessen his pains.
He uttered a few words of praise.
But snow showers
Buried flowers.

He recited poetic strains
Could only look down in a daze.
Hot tears fell upon her remains
Yet snow veiled all in a cold haze,
Irked and harried,
All sprays buried.
