Premium Member The Soul Making Ready

All is not sunshine
and clear sky, the
why we live and
smile – the sad,
inclement, why we
dim and die. Lord
alone knows the
entire answer...as this
creaking, old soul again
readies
to fly....

Santa Needs a Jet

The Christmas lights have now been lit,
Jack Frost has made his hit.
Before too long, the sleigh bells will ring,
as Santa readies his things.
That big day is nearing, the mood is set,
I bet this time of year, his wish is for a jet.

Funny bunnies, Honey,
Costa lotta money!

So do pretty posies,
Panties, chocs and roses.

If I had a packet,
I could really hack it …

But you can’t buy prezzies
If you don’t have readies.

Nicer far than this is
Hugs and kisses, Missus!

Premium Member Out With the Old - In With the New

The old year hobbles out - his path an aftermath of blunders. Glowingly expectant, the new year readies for a grand entrance - wearing nothing but fresh unstained diapers of naiveté. For the Sijo Poetry Contest of Rick Parise

Premium Member In Anticipation

Whispers of what will come
rustles among the leaves.
Blushes turn to golden hues,
Autumn's kiss upon the trees.
With a shiver of anticipation,
limbs shed their Fall dress.
sleep soon comes to subdue,
as nature readies to rest.

Premium Member Zen mode

the zone in spine with heart aligned
sphere-shaped, heart of God
awareness self-aware
aglow with love
full of light
we are
That

bliss hum
in head ovoid
conjoined with heart
readies the earth vehicle
to echo love’s divine pulsation
that in resonation with God’s will
all actions in this realm be enacted

Premium Member The Last Organ Grinder

Donning a vintage coat, boots, hat and all,
the last organ grinder readies his smile,
outside the old age home, heeding love’s call,
to rekindle heart’s joy, for a short while,
triggering memory elders recall,
recounted to young ones, in life’s last mile.
His next stop is for the autistic child,
where he’ll sing songs by God’s angels compiled.

When Autumn readies for harvest
not her full silos nor baskets imprest
not mellow vistas seen nor dressed trees, yellow-red
not Indian Summer's embrace nor late coloured flower beds
not Fall's living collage or wine newly pressed
not for walks in the woods or nature's largesse
but in thanksgiving ,daily blessed
for all the Lord's bountifulness

Life

So be it, life throws up its hands
As its arms prepare to fight
We stand, not wanting, yet as well
We are ready to ignite

As oppression heats our very core
And readies us to flame
We must not react, we must keep cool
As life is ours to claim

A pacifist we just may be
But yet, upon daylight
Our fists will ready, poised, strong
Because we’ll have to fight

Premium Member Sheba Readies Herself

Sheba woke up happily, eager to tear apart her competitor
Not in a mean devouring teeth-out, sharpen her claws way
She would do it as a lioness would, approaching slowly.
Giving her prey a sense of peace and hope

Springing at the perfect time
Before the woman’s defenses were up
Tearing her competitor’s edges into bits.
Eating the woman’s chances at stealing her promotion.

Premium Member Hush the blush

Before the seed of thought is allowed to sprout,
it is best we pause and examine the cause,
filtered through lens of love, to be free from doubt,
because oh hermit, our heart’s not free from flaws.
Each breath intake readies us for a fresh bout
but we must be mindful to obey God’s laws,
recognising that He alone is the light,
that lights all other lights by day and by night.

A Soldier's Duty

The soldier stands at attention,
As he readies the next annihilation,
Fighting for the freedom of our land,
Awaiting his last command.

Rushing out to meet them all,
With no room for any stall,
Defending our nation strong,
Without a notion of how long.

Family and friends gather round,
As we honor the renowned,
Troops fighting for our lives,
Making sure our nation thrives.

Premium Member Pyjamas - For Colloquialism Contest

I clapped eyes on some jimjams
at me local Marks and Sparks,
but strapped for readies,
I couldn't buy them
and had to treat it as a lark.

It was a shame,
for they were prezzies.
(I do like Marks and Sparks...)
I looked around at bits and bobs,
then toddled to the park.

Yours Faithfully

A killer roams these streets at night
all for pleasure, out of sight.
Prowling neath' a pallid moon,
the midnight hour approaches soon.
A surefire glance secures her prey,
she readies stance if she may
pace stealthily in quiet advance
and maul her catch with graceful prance.
She discards her victims at my back door
and slinks to shadow to kill some more.
Two stiff brown mice a careless bat
a curled up shrew and eyeless rat.
For my freindship with an alleycat.
