Impossible
Congressional rules made it clear:
All speeches must rhyme to the ear.
This tying each tongue,
No mud could be slung,
So pols all went out and drank beer....

During the not-so-Great Depression
   FDR practiced self-suppression
'chatting with us' just once a week

During the current pandemic
   Press conferences are epidemic
Pols grabbing every microphone to speak...

Nope Can'T Do It
Nope Can’t Do It

By Elton Camp

The pols, deficit tried to reduce

For failure there can be no excuse

Compromise they cannot do

Now they say they are through

But what problems will this produce...

Premium Member Peace Dove
Bombs fly
Soldiers die
Pols lie
Apple pie
~ Moms cry

Young men torn
'Still-born'
Widows mourn
Hair shorn...

Sun will shine
Life's fine
Rainbow's sign

Peace Dove
High Above

God is Love

Premium Member Truer Words Were Never Spoken Through Falser Teeth
If on history books we can rely

'Tis said Washington never told a lie

He had false teeth it is said

Yet uttered truths from his head

But pols now with 'wisdom' teeth are so sly

Premium Member Shots Ring Out
Shots ring out
    people scream
  Rivers of blood
    it's no dream

  Some have died
    others live on
  As spin-makers
    prepare their con

  Gun control pols
    blame the NRA
  Although in Congress
    they'll have their way

  The bottom line
    every time
  No one's safe
    from rising crime...

Speaker of the House
It sounds like junior high school,
The vote that will not end,
With people making speeches,
K. McCarthy to defend.

The government’s on hold
For no decisions can be made
Until a leader’s chosen,
But the pols are all afraid.

Concessions have been offered,
Some of this and some of that.
The easiest solution is –
Elect a Democrat!...

Premium Member Soda Tax Axe
The pols say: ‘A soda tax is OK.’
Cynical voters nix them anyway ~
   For they rightly suspect
Pols just want to collect ~
Behind it all, a revenue grab preys

Premium Member What War -- Why Worry
Bombs dropping
Wives shopping

Guns blazing
Frats hazing

Troops shooting
Crooks looting

Tanks rumbling
Drunks stumbling

Ships sinking
Flirts winking

More killing
Steaks grilling

Blood flowing
Moms sewing

Wounds gaping
Teens vaping

Men missing
Lips kissing

Hordes dying
Pols lying...

Ted Cruz
All today I had the blues
Because I listened to the news,
Learning Iowans did choose
Not Trump or Rubio, but Cruz.

This candidate does not amuse.
His cockiness just seems to ooze
From all his pores and in reviews,
His own Grand Party can’t enthuse.

It seems he likes to put the screws
On fellow pols, who can’t excuse
The vitriol he likes to use
When his agenda he pursues.

In the end, I must effuse –
Oh, Mr. Cruz, I hope you lose!...

Premium Member I'M In a Ny State of Crime
Placated and simply set free
In NY it's a matter of degree
Bail's not always necessary

They didn't harm, only robbed
how terrible could that be

Felons will be back at your door
looking for more,
of what you worked for

No longer detainees
it's almost guaranteed
they'll take what they please

Pols want you to appease
and forgive the sleaze
just give them keys

But, you might eschew PC
and leniency
after losing all that you had...

Friday in France
How lucky we are the Olympics
Will be starting, this Friday, in France!
After all this political trauma,
We can wake from this terrible trance.

We can focus on swimming and tennis,
Gymnastics and polo and track.
Cheer for volleyball, diving and cricket
And not listen to pols talking smack.

There’ll be fencing and judo and hockey
And sailing and golf and lacrosse.
Once the athletes march in, all that fanfare
Will remind us there’s life after loss.
