Pedro the peddler always had something to sell
Painted wooden pegs to a nice new bicycle bell 
Here every Tuesday on your door he would knock
Routing in his bag to find some old piece of crock
"Mind all nicked" says Pedro from his prison cell

The clouds a vision of objects; Reflecting in your mind.
The days are long and weary, But your life is pressed for time.
Travel on frail peddler; As far as your legs may go.
Dare to live your hopes, your dreams, to fill your heart and soul....

he mounts a silver skeleton.
Flying downhill, dispensing power
through straining ligaments.
His heroic calves squeezing light
into cone-shaped yellow beams
Then uphill, the counter-attack
of implacable night.
The boy speeds through
sleeping streets,
cape flowing, eye-mask
unseen, essential though
for a peddle-powered hero
who patrols
by the glow of a dynamo....

a soap box on the street

Borden's white dare to fade
a peddler pulled the page
farmers daughter drawing near
soon to become of age

Streets still hold her beat
in calls that thrill the ear
reached echos and passing feet
smoke has disappeared

Decades do loom and roam
here tomorrow is standing still
memories that found a home
weathered, dustmen mill...

I peddled a song round the streets
And found that not many were keen

The solemn church bell or the shout of cannon
Or at least the selfseeking drone
Of selling and buying and lying down prone
Was more to their taste

In haste  I switched wares
And peddled long shares
Making over the song
To the young fool who happened along

I hear he has gone to the desert and sings
The same song and lo and behold
