One has a salve that cures everything,
another has pecans, more than he ever dreamed,

From at least 8 trees, he could freely eat.
But unfortunately, that wasn't enough.
I should have known better than to
leave my pecans outside to dry.
Caught in the very act of eating my pecans, the
squirrel said, "Don't impede; I've got a family to feed".

Rain By: Tom Wright 3/20/2006 The grass that was has disappeared And a killdeer has lost its legs. The squirrel that buried fall’s pecans Is now stranded atree and begs. The noises of frogs now fill the air No happier time for one to be. The weatherman tells me that soon Water will be up to my knee.

Everybody Loves a Nut
Peanuts might be the most popular around
In any grocery store, pecans are found

Almonds alone, or with chocolate are nice
Macadamia nuts, will please for a price

Those who choose cashews, seem quite happy
Walnuts are always bought, by my pappy

Brazil nuts, I assume, came from Brazil
But Doughnuts, are the best, keeping it real!...

Premium Member Ode To Our Raccoons
Ode To Our Raccoon’s By: Tom Wright 1-18-2020 Around two thirty most mornings, I gaze out the rear window and see. A family of Raccoon’s foraging, on pecans from under our tree. Pecan hulls litter the sidewalks, but of these morsels I won’t deprive. For I realize It’s one of God’s creatures, doing its best to just survive.

Premium Member Adorn
Tender leaves adorn all the trees
As the golden sun touches
It rises higher exposing white
Wispy clouds, not rushing

Misty fog has settled in hollows
Kissing the tender grass
Wraps the tassels left upon oaks
and pecans, soon it will pass

Holly's tender new growth shines
Reaching for the sun's rays
While it only silhouettes the pines
Soon 'twill rise and stay...

Premium Member October Morn
October Morn By: Tom Wright 10/26/01 A boy's silvery breath, a Jack-O-Lantern's glow. Amid cascading leaves, dangles an old elm's mistletoe. Corn stalks, neatly shocked, emit the sun ray's glisten. Migrating geese overhead, with heart palpating, I listen. Squirrel's are at haste, pecans and acorns are falling. Grass, with it's veneer of frost, signals winter is calling.

Crunchy chewy every bite

In breads and scones
Miraculous treats in every home
Hazelnuts Brazil nuts acorns too
Stored within a squirrels pride

Imaginary
She saw a lion lying in the lounge,
Grooving to the stereo speaker
surround.
Giraffe in the bath having a laugh,
He towers so should've had a
shower.
Koala in the kitchen baking a cake
Packed full of pecans and dates.
Cheetah in the conservatory
shuffling cards,
Cheating with himself,not too hard.
Hippo in the hall smiling at it all.
But pictures she had taken
Were all in her imagination,
Her imaginary menagerie....

Premium Member Glad to Allow Little Red to Join Us
Everybody helped build the communal treehouse
Badger, fox, bunny, chipmunk, squirrel, owl and mouse.
In the end we served molasses, honey and jam on bread.
Can I join you up there? Asked a hen named Little Red.

We knew she was picked on by her lazy roommates.
So we said “why not” and she brought along some crates.
We now had pecans, dumplings, tootsie rolls and fresh sirloin.
We were certainly glad now that we had allowed her to join....
