Premium Member The Grapes of Chill

Freeze
Grapes Green,
if you please,
Separate, clean.
When overheated,
do not be defeated.

Premium Member Summer Breeze

The heat of the sun
bears down harshly

then a soothing breeze
will comfort overheated flesh

providng a respite of coolness
on a scorching day

Horses Cannot Ride Themselves

Ladies lounged in his light,
fanning the flames of overheated desires.
He, the slick poser, the bad bronco
oiled his parts while he cantered past them,
whipping his buttocks
in a most convincing manner.

The Settled Morning

From my porch
Wrap up with extreme-cold weather clothing
The January sun bathes weakly through the early morning grounds
I seek alone by such astonished far-fat mountain-side
When some dared rabbits at burrow doorway gazing
Like a thief at the overheated clouds!

Lobotomy Vita

(from The John Poems)

Transplant my heart;
I need it no more,
And remove my libido too.
Neither’s required
For this life I live,
Useless as love for you.

Lobotomize
The caring part
Of my overheated brain.
Then proceed to excise
The urge to dream.
I’ll never love again.

Premium Member Tasty Hors D'Oeuvres

The cows, they lowed
   The sheep, they bleated
The pigs, they squealed
   Herded together tight, overheated

Squeezed into lines
   Individuality stripped
Indignity's design
   Poked, prodded, whipped

through airport corridors
  lines stretching forever
making tasty hors d'oeuvres
  for blue-uniformed beasts, however...
Form: Rhyme

Dream

Paralysed by my surroundings
Enduring the visions you hold
Deep paths burned in all corners
My brain is a multi track mind
Anxious in sleep, beating fast
Thoughts all eratic and twisted
No sense a numbness no flight
My body wrapped in your web
Struggling to escape this fight
My body overheated and sweaty
Suddenly awake - such a fright!

Search

Searching every photo.
Analyzing every word.
Looking for some reminder of the life we once had.
I know that we will never find our way back,
and there is nothing that looks like you in the life I have now.
My wine dreams and
  overheated prophecies are wearing thin.
And my life has become a dinosaur of love and where we lived before.
I will stay there.
I will live here.
I will not speak your name,
  when the sun goes down.

Premium Member No Rain

Sun red hot like an overheated stove
Cracking the ground for twenty-seven days
Tall corn suffers from a failure to throve
Nature sometimes has nefarious ways
Setting yonder field of soy bean ablaze
The garden has become a toasted crust
Of shriveled up beans pods and silky dust
All hope has disappeared for this year’s crop
Next year it will be better, we must trust
For nearly a month there’s nary a drop.

Premium Member Autumn Frolicking

The children are jumping in the leaves Last Autumn frolics before the cold They’ve rolled up their long sleeves, Overheated, they are sweaty, I’m told Covered with leaves, brown and gold. The coming rain will create a soggy pile No longer suitable for fun and game Children will prefer to dance with style, Indoors, until they are tired and lame, Preferring to watch the fireplace aflame.

Premium Member A Ripe Time Trimeric

Indulge in juicy strawberry stars
let that sugar soften your tongue;
The taste of Summer when it's cold
you visualize the bright Moon of June;

Let that sugar soften your tongue
that lazy grin will warm you up;
Frayed tank top replaces your hoodie;

The taste of Summer when it's cold;
Suddenly overheated and sweating
happy taste buds steal the season;

You visualize the bright Moon of June
splashing in the shallows of the sea,
a ripe time for something sweet.

Lunch Plus One

Our conversations come so easy
a laugh here, a plot there
an innocent table falling victim
to our overheated exchanges.

We had 10 lessons to learn,
needing them to settle deep inside.
9 months to forgive myself
for the 8 months I squandered.

What a joy to watch the shy one
share 7 salacious secrets
and our brave ones change
their world with 6 simple words.

Times change, 5 becomes 4
then it will be 3
and we will be back at the start.
Now 2 days a week
I'll wish for a lunch plus 1.

Dry Ride

The road is sluggish,
trucks burn the sky,
the sun roasts the blacktop.
We crawl out of one place
only to meander and inch
into another melting byway.

I count hawks and buzzards,
play the same music track
over and over again.
The air-con blasts
as we tinker with the time
we have left
before we can reach
that cube of ice
inside a cold margarita.

First though
we have to pour ourselves
out of a wilting car
away from the combustible
fumes of all these
overheated thoughts.
