Napoleon was miserable
Very sad and flat
To cap it all
A strong wind blew
Whipping off his Tricorn Hat!...

Fresh Out of Ideas
If you are fresh out of ideas,
You may need to freshen up the ones you have,
Throw out the ones past their use by date,
Listen to what comes out of the mouths of babes,
And don't discount all of those that come out of an old hat....

Old New Age
What’s it all about?
Is it time for a Revolution?

Old Fashioned – New Trend

Old Hat – New Technology

Old Man – New Man

Old Woman – New Woman

Old Age – New Age

Old Year – New Year

is it a new beginning
or a time for Resolution!...

Bedroom divorce before of bride and groom
One bedroom for two seems old hat,
And some bat for the separate—
One far right meant for ‘she’,
And one far left for ‘he’,
Middling, if mood is made for that!

Swimming in an outdoor pool,
drinking from  a fountain,cool;

Swings and slides in childish fun ,
summer picnics in the sun;

A Sunday Brassband trumpet call,
in open spaces enjoyed by all;

Bowls and putting on the green,
in the Vale Park 'the 'place to be seen;

Leisurely strolls and chat,
forties style, now so very 'old hat'....

Dusty Old Hat
Upon the shelf there is nothing but a hat,
all dusty and faded from where it has sat,
being in the same place and the same spot,
since the very day that it was bought,
it does not seem to have a purpose,
only to keep dust off of the surface,
of the shelf on which it sits,
high above all of the other outfits,
but perhaps it was too small,
maybe i just don't recall....

Chairman Meow
The tiger pounced,
Arrived unannounced,
She's Chairman Meow,
Don't know how,
Here anyway,
What to say?
Fine thinking woman this,
Doesn't take any blip,
A femme of self-esteem,
A misogynist's dream!
All dance to her tune,
Is this a tiger moon?
"Yes, dear," men reply,
I only look and sigh,
Why can't I be like that?
Training men--old hat?
Really don't know how,
She's Chairman Meow....

Tap Dance Ode To the Writer's Pitch
You better be a little rich,
If you choose to make a pitch.
By bus or car you make the trip,
You've trained yourself just not to slip.
The agents sit; a motley crew,
A few may even look at you.
To them it's just the same old hat,
To find some meat stuck in the fat.
The writer wonders what they think,
Is he good or does he stink?
Most go home with little done,
Was this pitch just done for fun?...

Premium Member Old Farm Hat
Listen to poem:
My old farm hat wears
its scars on sleeve.
Mended rough and ready
for all to see is heroic deeds
in tussles with cows, bulls and trees.
Its soaked soft in sweat, mellowed with dust.
Patched with bits of other
old hats that have fallen apart, passed it.
Sewn with old leather throngs
through holes punched with a knife.
My old hat is as much a part of me
as my skin, burnt leathery brown
and scarred with age....

Sweep
Hello and handshakes,
now old hat,
that brief hello,
wiggling through teeth.....

a stiff aura
still making breakfast,
news blabbing
from the old TV,

touching is only
on a big screen,
a carbon copy
of middle aged parents,

tequila on Friday
the bright spot,
like sunshine
on a
wrinkled countenance,

gazing right through each other,
the big mirror,
a comfort zone,
waiting
for one or the other
to push out
first....

Did you play Spin the Bottle when you were very
young?
Sitting in a big circle, you had to kiss the boy who
pointed to?
It was quite an innocent game.
Today, life has neither value nor shame!

Patriots are held in vicious scorn.
But killing a Policeman, is big fun.
God is "old hat", the Bible ?
A bunch of lies and baloney!
So, she sits there, writing profound Haikus,
With latest, live-in lover, unemployed, Tony!
