an army
prepares for battle
I share my picnic

I saw a dark mass
A floating dying being
Looking fierce, deadly
Wanting to steal away souls
Hope it’s not looking for me
Russell Sivey
Bobbleheads, jaws slack — moment of clarity.
Minions that adhere to the truth, head-roll rarity.

YOUR BEST RHYMING COUPLET
Trump claims he was chosen by God
To eliminate voter fraud
Electors beware
Trump's minions are there
"Correcting" each vote they find "odd"
the Alternative Right
is keeping us minions awake through the night
what is so entirely contrarian
how often we laugh at the stumbling orange grammarian.
High winds churl, howling
calling forth their minions
open wide the gates
the battle will be long, fierce!
through the mountains, hills and vales

There once was a lady named Sadie
Who wanted to work, well maybe
Got a job on the line
Packing boxes just fine
When bubble wrap appeared, no lady
old Gooseberry
biding his time
sending the reaper
to collect the damned
sitting on his throne
unconcerned, unhurried
choosing new minions
for tomorrow’s soul collections
Outside
The streets are thronged with people
Chanting empty slogans
Mindless minions
Dancing to a globalist agenda...

Ideology
penetrates the skull...
alien missile,
strange...
Is a parrot that repeats
voices of yesteryear
to muster herd...
Strong lie
to form minions
to lick boots
of rogues, humans...
Hitler
Swollen with evil pride
As he stood in front
Of the Eiffel Tower,
Flanked by his nazi minions.

jugernaut of the masses
call forth the minions
stockpile the odes
and breathe no more
hold into account all I have
pillage not unto my weakness
scoff not part now
plow the ground
and support the groves
of my shortcomings
Those looking
for trouble
find more
than they’re after
Temptation
a grifter
Pandora’s
disaster
Be careful
of those wishes
that may just
come true
Hiding pain
and its minions
to poison
— the stew
(The New Room: August, 2026)
Fun minions give children a thrill.
Take note of one thing, if you will.
Like a Xanax, the minion,
In one actor's opinion,
Resembles a big yellow pill!
Written Feb. 24, 2016 for the Minions Poetry Contest of Silent One
I'm the worm Persephone’s minions found;
Blackbirds drinking from Apollo’s brewery
Warbled their songs into my gloomy bedroom,
For the Feast of Spring.
New verse created 6 April 2015 for Sapphic Stanza #3 contest
Before dawn,
the world breathless~
heartbeats
become tethers
to the whims of fate
and old dreams
flying
out of reach.
Fickle
fate holding
our fortunes
hostage to power~
meager money eked out
from
minions of despots.
Not forgetting the natives
who there once held sway
the factories and farms
of the blue and grey
made the country
what it is today
but his untold minions
and one man’s say
may destroy the Land of the Free
known as the U.S.A.
The commonest denominator,
stepping toward the throne
His minions with their blindfolds on,
about to be disowned
The commonest denominator,
laughing at their pain
Another lie, stick in the eye
—a life of greed and shame
(Dreamsleep: October, 2020)
Spitting into the ocean
hoping it would rise
Wrapped in the flag of tomorrow’s retreat
the past and its minions reprise
One more straw on the hay pile
not worth a tinker’s damn
Wishing and hoping with my last breath
to free the words
— I am
(Dreamsleep: March, 2024)
Sitting in the middle of the road
Surrounded by the cyclone of traffic
Whirring in opposite directions
Windows closed, eyes front, minions
Mindful of the presence of one
Misguided middle of the roader
Unable to understand the
Urgency of either side

A
Small
Creature
And pill like
Describe the heroes
That follow an evil leader
Until one day, a trio decided to venture
To find out a new overseer that assumes the control of their community

ghoulish entities ooze from the bowels of graves
slurping and slinking around bushes and under porches
they are the night raiders, the soul stealers, the vampire’s minions.
I feel their presence, and my blood freezes. I cannot get warm enough.
They have arrived.
I am their destination tonight.
Lavender tinted
Two serpents of the sea
Chafing scales
Twisting through
Kuroshio Currents
Prancing Minions
Sirens of the deep
Bathing in rosen lilac
l'écume de mer
Frothing on the Horizon
Silken Goddesses
Submerged in Epsom salinity
Artfully teasing
Envisioning
A Better Tomorrow
Look around at the golden hues
shades ever changing
now look at the world, with its
blackening brow
dying embers of autumn flame
darker days are looming
the deepening rain storms
throwing down opaque
minions, thump
thumping the ground
wetting parched lips of
impassive need
just trying to survive.

Parental – High handedness
Work put in
By sentinel minions
Juggernaut enthused
Serial circumstance
Discorded use. Abstinence!
Crushed! UNDONE!
Inconsonance
I am slighted. Rebuffed!
Disinherited
Urgency brings revolution
Insurgence
Of divine retribution.
End.
