Climbers shinny up the mountain face
Slowly, cautiously moving toward a goal,

a sliver of mica in a rough stone
diamonds of a queen, dreaming of her king
a day in nature, a plethora of hope

a caw, a whistle, a peep, a robin
magical land of faeries, elves and brownies
dive bombing her imagination with joy
She is overcome with completeness
feeling herself more here than anywhere else...

In my garden sits a red granite rock
set with flecks of quartz, mica, and feldspar.
Juxtaposed with emerald green shamrock
and flowers of yellow and cinnabar.

Butterflies are oft attached to its salts,
and once, I spied an indigo-blue one.
A masterpiece Mother Nature exalts
this living sapphire glistened in the sun.

With gold filigree fit to adorn kings,
it was poised on that rock, flexing its wings....

                            the wide green parks frail and worn
                      The factories spew out toxins day and night
                     winding through the air and blinding my sight
                          Paint me a picture of petals on flowers
                       as childhood mica and the glory was ours

The dragonflies danced in the crisp Maine air
on a draft from the ocean deep.
Their delicate wings teased the breeze
high up on Mount Battie’s Peak.

Blue-black they flew like the night time sky,
as the mica flecked granite shone,
Seeking nectar sweet from blueberries bushes
and their small white flowers’ cones.

The silvered sea was surreally framed by
a multitude of human eyes;
Dotted with miniature sailing boats
A scene full of wonder and sighs....

There are many canals in SPB, and these two are more famous than others

folding marbled, polished stones
within its liquid tender arms
I strike conversation
Leaves from autumns passed
bed the bottom, amber lit
glittering with mica strung dreams
drowning reservations

You have known my youth
I have pierced your fluid skin
in winter, searching slumber's arms
in frosty breath we kissed
Now my face has aged
brutal truth upon my brow
and still you polish heavy thoughts
until they shine with bliss......

Washed the roundish rock off in the pond.
Metallic sizzle smell came from her center.
Reminding me of a sauna’s fragrance.

Mica and feldspar glinted under the water.
I lift her out and sense a metallic scent.
Instantly visualizing iron on a rainy day.

Memories flood my brain
Other rocks collected and cherished
Thrown out by a prissy mother

Another treasure! I dunk her into the gentle water.
Next to miniscule minnows
She comes out smelling like rain....
