To Be a Marsupial
Of all the mammals I could be
I select marsupial
'Cos as I watch them, seems to me
They're all connubial and fiducial...

Inquiring Minds Iii
Is bad kangaroo stew
a marsupial goo?
Is a pachyderm’s junk
in an elephant’s trunk?
Does a prim spoon-billed stork
use a knife and a fork?
Is whale splash in the ocean
a cetacean commotion?...

Annual Marsupial Luncheon
Marsupial luncheon was a huge success
We had enough food with a plausible guess
Kangaroo baby made an enormous food mess
We did not help mama clean it, I must confess.
It’s all in her pouch the koala said.
She is embarrassed. Her face is quite red.
Opossum did not reply. She was playing dead.
All marsupials were amply and adequately fed....

Re Ann Rutheford - the Chase
watching little animals and their antics ?
very amusing ....
Patches cat brought home a Kangaroo Rat,
and set it free in the night,
it was hopping around our bedroom,
to our squeals of delight,
so i shepherded it back to the doorway ,
back to the bush goodnight...

Ballad
Dusting Off the Namesake
The game
Squashed his frame
Socks tainted
Carved out plain
But the road map was tame
Animals replete
With zoo keeper seed
From marsupial greed
A black out rabbit hole
Concealed the frrozen deals
Pincers chopping dollar backs
Red with collar grabs
Soapy suds and beer
The watery love endeared
To carry a child burden
For the sake of namesake
Dust off the the boot heel kickers
And fly kites with cotton pickers...

Australian Teddy Bear
Many human beings consider me an animal that’s beautiful.
I am one of those mammals classified as a marsupial.
Some people call me an “Australian teddy bear”.
However, “koala” is the proper moniker I wear.
This continent down under is my native home.
To other places in the world I do not want to roam.
All of you zookeepers, please don’t take me away.
Here in this land you call “Australia” is where I want to stay.

Adulterated
Such grief my friend marsupial
Child from wonder born
Fractured in a moments time
No fragment left adorns
Moments burned so carelessly
Confusion wrought a bramble wood
Muddled through another day
When you could, you understood
Madness to persistent lies
Around a corner unabated
Slice of joy to top the day
All of life adulterated
Left with only games a remnant
No pouch of peace remains
All for change no betterment
Flipping dice of discontent...
